Is there any difference in the way these 2 groups are called up? Is there a protocol?

My son says that active reserves are called up first, then inactive are notified to be on alert.

It would depend on their job training, and the needs of the service.

I think this is mostly true, but if I remember the first time I left the service (I have "broken service", I was in, out, and back in again) I believe that for the first 90 days after you leave active duty, you are very high on the list.

Praying here that inactive never gets called. Both son & his wife are inactive and they have two children under 3.

I am only relative who doesn't "work". Guess who will get the kids? Guess what will happen to my ebay business--that is mostly old glass and pottery?

In fact, son's Marine unit called him Friday to confirm phone numbers etc. Of course he immediately told me he had been deployed just so he could watch my heart attack. Not funny at all right now!
