I purchased some items that are clearly marked with the Hazel Atlas mark. They are frosted with hand painted pieces of fruit on them.
When searching on ebay I found many items that were called Fire King Gay Fad that are clearly the same as the ones I have.
some of the auctions even said Hazel Atlas in the title or description.
Are Hazel Atlas and Fire King one and the same or what?

Hazel Atlas is the Company. Fire King is one of their brand names for glassware. Gay Fad refers to the hand painted decoration found on many peices. This was a hand decorating company literally across the street from Hazel Atlas.
So for the best hits for search, try to squeeze in Hazel Atlas Fire King gad fad into your title!

Fire King was made by Anchor Hocking. Gay Fad Studios were located right across street from Anchor. Gay Fad painted Fire King but predominiately painted Hazel Atlas glass as it was cheaper for them despite proximity to Anchor. Gay Fad also painted some Federal glassware....

Hazel Atlas and Fire King are two entirely different companies. Hazel Atlas does NOT make Fire King glassware. Fire King & Anchor Hocking are made by the same company.
Gay Fad is a style of glassware (with hand painted fruits, flowers, etc.). Gay Fad can be Fire King OR Hazel Atlas.

Fire King was a kitchenware/ovenware/restaurantware line made by Anchor Hocking.
Hazel Atlas was bought out by another glass company at least 20 years ago.
All these American glassware companies have since had their lunch eaten by cheap imports, and are either out of business or merged (again).
Read Gene Florence's books or get a free copy of the DG Daze magazine for the latest info in that area of collectibles.
Edited to add: Here'a an interesting article about possible plans for reissue of Fire King jade-ite:

Stopped at a Cracker Barrel the other night and there on the shelves is Jadite and they advertise it as well. Not a bad reproduction and it seems reasonable.

I've been trying to decide what to list this week. I almost forgot about my box of Jadeite under my piles of stuff. It's time to sell Jadeite before it's on the shelves everywhere!

Jadite is being heavily "remade", not only by American glass companies still in business, but by foreign companies. Every mail order catalog I get, including Martha's has jadite. The original stuff died a quiet death - price - wise - more than a year ago.
The few remaining pieces I have will probably be used in my own, and my kids' kitchens. Use it and don't worry about resale.

Hi Rarriffle, sorry about the wrong info. Good to see it was caught immediately!
Here is a site to make you sick, if you treasure vintage real Jadite.
Repros are out there and buyers better be careful.
