In compliance to AW Rules, this will be moved by 9/17 to the Round Table, but wanted to share it with some of our eBay friends before it has to be moved.

TRIBUTE TO THE VALIANT RESCUE DOGGIES – OF THE RESCUE AND CADAVER SERVICE!
I realize in this week of horror, little thought as been given to our intelligent, devoted beyond caring for their own lives & safety, Rescue Canines who have, and are searching “Ground Zero,” and the Pentagon Crash Site, to try to find any possible human survivors.
Searching, with cut paws; continuing to work although their noses and throats congested by the dust and dirt of these sites. Just yesterday, a flight of mercy got through to New York City with boots for the feet of these wonderful dogs.
I am sure all of you know, that 2 of the Canine Police Corp. were killed as they rushed to help with the Rescue the first day, and the building fell on them.
We should remember our unwavering 4 legged friends, who do so much for humanity, and ask so very little.

Oh thank you for posting this! The catalog store I buy my horse and dog supplies from (Jeffers) was one of the ones responsible for collecting the money to send the dog boots, vetwrap and medications to the rescue dogs. I made a donation to this cause as I felt they might be instrumental in finding someone alive in the rubble, or being able to find a body so the family can have closure. It's good to hear a report that my donation did some good!!

I use Jeffers also! My breeder in N. AL, also uses Jeffers, Jeffers is fantastic! Locally, and on the web, they have the absolute BEST PRICES! I am so glad to hear that they were part of the group who got the boots up to those precious 4 legged heros!
I am sure if those pups could speak English, (I say that because I do think they have a form of communication, and understand much of what we say), but if they could speak English, I am sure they would send you and Jeffers a BIG THANK YOU!
Rescue, Service, Companion, and Lead Dogs, are truly the unrecognized, silent service heros!

A policeman pulled from the rubble after 5 hours was on Dateline tonight........you could feel his grief for his partner as he called him ~ a trained yellow lab ~ left in his kennel in the basement of the WTC. I cried with him as I petted my yellow lab.

A sad addition to the above; I just heard that another Canine Hero just died at "Ground Zero," tonight. This was a Coast Guard "Fur Baby," who dropped dead on the site from heat exhaustion! He worked devotedly, with no thought for his own life, till he just dropped. There must be a place in heaven for these devoted, precious "Fur Babies."
