There are two identical items up for sale in the same category; however, only one has the new Auctions for America icon. Do you think there may be a disadvantage to the seller who does not have the icon? If you had 20 auctions up and you listed 10 for AFA but you lost (no bids)the other 10 to AFA because bidders chose the AFA auctions, where does this all go? (referring to duplicate items in the same category)

100 days of this offer will take us straight through the Holiday buying season.

I resent even the hint that because my items may not be listed with an AFA icon that I'm not concerned about contributing to the "cause". I believe my contributions through church and legal non-profit organizations and the fact, that I and my immediate family are in law enforcement, firefighting and the military is just as much a contribution as "cash".

Anyone see the other side of the coin?

Yeah, and when eBay has the press conference to announce the auctions and hand over the 3 foot by 5 foot check it will say eBay and Billpoint all over it.

It is another example of eBay branding their "venue" by (ab)using the anonymous sellers. They are also exploiting the tragedy and its victims.

If you want to make a donation, sell the item as you usually do and pay the fees. Then make your own donation WITH YOUR NAME ON IT.

I think anyone who is opposed to eBay’s Auction for America should take a moment and at least log onto eBay’s community page and take their poll which asks the following question:

Do you plan to buy/sell any items on eBay's Auction for America charity program?

Yes- I will buy and sell what I can
Yes- I will at least buy or sell 1 item
No- I have donated in other ways

Currently 360 people have voted. The results are as follows:

Yes- I will buy and sell what I can - 18%
Yes- I will at least buy or sell 1 item -12%
No- I have donated in other ways - 68%

I cast my NO vote, now it’s your turn to send a message to eBay. I’m sure they are checking out Discussion & Help Boards, AW as well as other similar boards and their poll.

Looking at this another way...could it work to a sellers advantage to run a couple of AFA listings along with your regular listings, and if bidder on the AFA thinks you're a great person for donating they'll take a look at other items you are selling. It may be a way to get more bids and sales.

Not only has Ebay effectively left out the sellers who choose not to sign up for Billpoint, they are ALSO leaving out the buyers who do not wish to pay with a credit card! This charity function is for a select few who will be made to look like heros by riding in on the backs of the rest of us!

More than 50% of my buyers pay with check, money order, or cash, so I think that limiting participation to credit-card paying customers could be a major issue.
