I normally send an email reminder about 10 days after an auction ends, letting folks know payment hasn't arrived, asking if there is a problem, etc. [this isn't the NPB notice]
As of today's mail, I have 11 items which closed between the end of August and Sept 6th with no payment. Presumably if payment was sent, it was well before the 11th. I am not talking about anything from last week.
My question: are you seeing evidence that "checks in the mail" last week are being slow to arrive and should I allow extra time? For myself, today's payments were postmarked 9/14 and it's the 18th, so that's more or less usual.

keziak,
I live in SC and just got two payments (first-class envelopes) in today:
Nevada postmarked the 11th
California postmarked the 8th
I feel bad because I goofed off on Monday the 10th and put off mailing packages - you know, one of those "I'm giving myself a mini-vacation" days. Was going to do it Tuesday then all hell broke loose. I finally got it together on Friday and went to the po where I was told the priority packages were going to sit on the loading dock until "sometime probably next week."
So I'm refunding shipping to those buyers who had to wait longer than necessary. As to your original question - I just don't have the heart to send out reminder notices. You never know what a person is going through in times like these.

I am about to send reminders very very soon on all my auctions that closed many winning bids and only one single payment.

I have never had a problem before. But this week have several. I just heard from 3 of them, apologizing for the delay. One is in Greenwich Village, and 2 others just didn't get around to it. I feel everybody's normal life just stopped, and chores including ebay stuff, all became very far down in priorities. I'm sending reminders, but being very nice in them for the next few days.

yesterday i sent off emails to buyers i haven't yet heard from. until yesterday even i wasn't sure who i'd not yet heard back from. i asked if they were okay, and to please email me back as soon as they can.
there is one that bugs me. international buyer emailed and asked permission to bid. i said ok. she won on 8/28. took me an unacceptable 4 or 5 days to buy a padded envelope and get back to her with postage, so when i bought the envelope i packed the item up and sent it, rather than waiting for her to send me the money and it taking even longer to get her item to her. also enclosed a little extra gift by way of apology. she emailed me back, thanking me, said she'd mail the money the next day. still haven't received it, nor a word back from her. It has been a horrific past week for all of us. Sent a few NPBA from the first weeks of August. I understand what we have all been through this past week, and the auctions that ended over that time period will get very lax attention from me. All in good time.

I normally wait 14 days before sending payment not recieved notices (my own, not ebay's). I sat down last night and sent out the notices for auctions that ended the last week in August...they would have normally been sent out last week but I held off.

I will not be chasing my US buyers for at least a month, if I ever will. I trade in an International Market and it has risks.
This is not my trading name.
P.S. An update on my lost lot to Costa Rica. It has been returned to me by Post Office and has now been sent to Miami.

Bad me I actually filed two NPB alerts yesterday for auctions that ended mid August, both responded today, that due to NY they have been unable to mail my payment but will soon but I should expect a delay in receiving because the mail has been slowed down.
Yeah, what about the full month they had before that, I don't think I will get paid from either one but will probably wait another month just to see

I have not changed my schedule at all. Fortunately I have no deadbeats right now, but I always send reminders two or three days after an auction and NPB 7 days out for non-responders or about 10 days for non-payment. If you have not gotten paid in 14 days, you are probably looking at a deadbeat and the smart money is on an NPB alert. I recommend relisting the day you file your FVF credit and block the deadbeat.

Kittykitty, international mail has had a hold placed on it, I believe by the FAA. At this point, I wouldn't recommend buying/selling out of the country.

Yeah, what's going on? More NPB than usual lately on eBay. And some people are claiming they sent payment electronically, but when I go check Yahoo PayDirect, there's no payment and the person won't respond to emails.
