Thanks to everyone a couple of weeks back for their advice and comments regarding a seller who described an item as "very nice" but when received was in pretty bad shape.

I need some new advice regarding this same seller who told me to return the item and he would "refund upon receipt."

I sent the item back on 9/6 with Delivery Confirmation; it was received on 9/8. So far, this seller has not refunded (my payment was through PayPal so I asked for a refund through PayPal), nor has he responded to 3 email requests for further information.

I looked up his contact information on eBay and called the phone number. The voicemail says he is "out of the office until October 1st." (I'm pretty sure I called a mobile phone number.)

Would you neg at this point or wait until after October 1st and see what happens? I don't understand some sellers just up and leaving -- especially when they have a reputation at stake.

He could have some WTC business somewhere, I suppose, BUT he had three days to refund before the attack. Just thinking outloud...

What would you do?

Does this seller have current listings? Has he been left any recent FB or has he left any recent FB indicating he is conducting "business as usual"? If you think there is a possibility he or someone he knows was impacted by the 9/11 attacks, then perhaps give them a little longer before taking action.

You could go into PayPal and send a "request for payment" to the seller. In the message portion just let them know you are needing your refund by a set date.

Did you originally pay with PP or by cc? If you did, you may wish to let the seller know that you will start the process for reversing the charges if you have not been refunded by the set date.

Good luck.

edited for terrible spelling...

Thanks, sulyn1950 for your ideas. They're good ones.

This seller had 20 auctions end on 9/14 but nothing since.

He left 16 feedbacks on 9/20.

He lives in Kansas City, Missouri, so I don't know if he had any WTC business or not...

I paid with PayPal but from my bank account, not with a cc.

I will definitely request a payment through PayPal but I'm not sure what else I should do at this point. I suppose I can wait until 10/1 (three weeks after he received the return) and see what happens, but as both a buyer and seller I think the guy is nuts leaving himself open like this.

Note: he has left NO feedback for me yet even though I paid him the same day I received his EOA.
