The minimum $5 fee would make me head for the hills! Why the heck would a buyer choose to use BidPay???

eSeller004,
Bidpay is an invaluable resource for international bidders. Many sellers (like myself) will only accept checks and money orders in US funds. For an international customer to get a check, and pay postage will often be much more expensive then the $5.00 that Bidpay charges. It will also typically arrive MUCH faster than international mail. All in all, I find that a large percentage of my international customers prefer to use Bidpay.

I get the majority of my international payments threw Bidpay, they tell me it's cheaper than buying a MO and mailing it.
I have received some non international Bidpay payments too.

I have used Bidpay a few times and love the service. It's the only way I've found to purchase a money order with a credit card.

Also, if you make 10 bucks or more per hour and it takes you a 1/2 hour to run around and buy a money order, you break even just using BidPay.

If you currently don't have the funds but need to buy something. You will have to find a way to use the credit card and Bidpay lets you do that.

I just paid with bidpay for the first time. I am in Canada, paying for an item in the US. I could have paid $4 Canadian for a postal money order and another 60 cents for a stamp instead of $5 US to bidpay, but the convenience was easily worth the extra couple of bucks.

Is there a maximum a buyer can submit for BidPay?

There are also severely handicapped buyers who have a hard time getting out to buy MOs and who use BidPay for its convenience.

Some people use payingfast.com also. I accept Billpoint echecks, no paypal and no credit cards so I do get people buying small ticket items with bidpay because they want to use a credit card.

Is this a BidPay Advertising thread? I use Paypal and have had payment within 30 minutes from both Costa Rica and New Zealand. Some of my USA buyers are even faster.

I have received 60 or 70 bidpay payments..6 from the usa..rest overseas..i sell records so i have a lot of overseas sales.
I have never been on the buying end before, but i believe they have to purchase the money order with a credit card. I also offer billpoint so i can't understand why they just don't use billpoint, which costs them nothing. any ideas?

I think there are some sellers that do not accept PayPal. Also, some countries with no PayPal service.
Bidpay far superior to PayPal. I rather not pay fees. So what if I don't get my payment within 30 minutes.

Here's another one...I sent a test money order to my brother and it arrived with no problems. Looks like the fees are a bit lower than BidPay.

I have received hundreds of Bidpay payments - I ship as soon as the APPROVAL email comes to me - mostly to my overseas buyer's _ I also sell a lot of record albums and I also DO NOT accept paypal - I cannot praise bidpay enough - really a great service.

A few weeks ago I came across an auction that would "NOT" take bidpay along with paypal, billpoint..etc...in other words CASH only.
Why wouldn't someone take bidpay?? sellers are *NOT* required to register, but it does help alleviate addressing problems. Sellers really don't have to do *anything* but wait for the money order to show up. Sellers are not held responsible for chargebacks either.
So, why would a seller be so restrictive?

Seller may not want Bidpay because it is not 100% safe. Possible Bidpay was transacted with a stolen credit card. That is why Bidpay always ask you to ship to address they give you.
Other possibility is seller may be hiding income. That is why seller only want cash, no deposits to trace.
I personally think not to accept Bidpay is being too restrictive.

The International angle makes sense, but why would a buyer from the U.S.A. use BidPay to pay a U.S. seller? You can pay by CC with any # of free buyer services (PayPal, BillPoint, Yahoo PayDirect) and also get CC chargeback protection. I'll gladly accept BidPay for U.S. transactions if the buyer is foolish enough to go that route. It's not my $5+ they're blowing. I'd never use BidPay to pay anyone though.

So you ship to the address given. Big deal. It is 100% safe for the seller, when the MO is mailed he's golden.
