You might be thinking of InoculateIT, which is no longer free. Those who had downloaded it prior to July of this year can still get DAT file updates, but you have to pay for it now.

Not many programs are free any longer. A very reasonably priced program is McAfee. You can go to www.mcafee.com and sign up. They have some other advantages that come with the subscription and IMHO is well worth every penny you pay. It has saved my hard drive more than once.

McAfee was an absolute nightmare for me, screwed up my puter almost beyond help, and the customer service was appalingly non-existant. On the recommendation of a friend, I invested $100 or so and bought Norton Systemworks 2001, and it's the best $100 I ever spent, I *highly* recommend it, as someone who is online 24/7/365, and makes my living from the net, it has solved countless problems, & kept my machine humming in perfect order, plus it includes the best virus protection program out there, 100% automatic, I don't need to do anything at all other than have it running all the time.
Don't cheapskate out when it comes to virus protection, you may end up regretting it big time.
