I just listed a bunch of junk and they accepted it! No need for ISBN and UPC symbols. More exposure for items you usually sell on eBay or any other venue, and free listings. The bad thing is they swipe 15% from your sale price. It's still great since you can jack up your prices to offset eBay's fees.
They just sent an email out to announce it. You list your miscellaneous junk under the "Everything Else" category which isn't well laid out, but still.

I have curtailed my eBay listings for now. I sell general merchandise and old west wanted posters there so I would be very curious as to how your sales do listing in the “Everything Else” category on Half.com.
On half.com I sell books and is where my primary source of income is derived from. eBay is just a little extra income bonus for me.
I noticed just before the holidays last year that competition was getting fearsome in the categories I sold in and sellers were lsiting the same type of merchandise I offered for less and less with the passing of every week so I diversified into book selling.
I make a very comfortable living now selling books on Half.com and Amazon.com and really appreciate the no up front listing costs. Sure they take 15% but that is on "sales only" not for unsold merchandise. I'd rathe rpay 15% then list hundreds of items and have a meager sell through rate. Then on top of that have a percentage of dead beats to deal with and only get my FVF refunded. So it all works out in the end.
While things have been slow since 9-11 it appears the past four days sales for me have started climbing againon Half.com any way. They are not back to the point where they were before 9-11 but they are definitely getting better.
Please let us know how your sales go on Half.com in the "Everything Else" category and good luck.

OK, no success yet!
One problem I see is you can't alter the quantity of the items you have to offer. It's 1 item per listing. It's gonna take forever to list everything and then the categories are too limited! I could see it being great for collectibles though, especially name brands that people tend to search for.

Holy cow! The first item I listed under the "Everything Else" category at Half.com just sold! 2 hours later. I only had time to list 3 for today. The item sold for a much higher price than I've been able to get on eBay.

An added bonus for Half.com posters - the items there still show up on AW's Universal Search. I'm not sure if buyers still use this tool now that Ebay items are omitted, but I still plug searches in regularly. It's good to know that there will be a wider variety of merchandise to "hit". As I'm gearing up to be a seller, this will be an interesting alternative to track.

Listed a few more "Everything Else" items on Half.com today and some of them sold within hours. Same junk that's in my eBay store and never gets hits! eBay should chuck the stores and have everyone list fixed priced items on Half.com where the buyers are.

Colonel,
Re your book sales, which is better - half or amazon? Or do you find one is better for some books and the other for other books?

Man, people are piling on the junk in Half's Everything Else category! Pages and pages of stuff. I swear I've never seen so much junk in my entire life!!! And the junk is selling! Half has the look and feel the eBay stores ought to have. Sold more stuff today from the Everything Else category while few of my other Half category items are moving due to STIFF, STIFF competition! On many of the item pages you create in Half's Everything Else category you'll face no competition. Nobody has listed anything on the pages I've created and meanwhile my stuff is selling. Doubt my stuff is that unique. More likely few have discovered the new category at Half. Now eBay has 2 DYNAMITE venues where you can sell nearly anything! I think they stumbled on something HUGE with this Everything Else category!!!

I'm not seeing what you are evidently. When I go to "Everything Else" to try and sell, the categories are minimal and they require you to have a manufacturer, etc. How do you go around that?

Use the brand as the manufacturer, or do as some others have done and list part of your title in the Manufacturer box and part in the Model box. You just need to have something in the boxes they require. You can literally enter anything in the boxes and Half will accept it (for now). It doesn't have to be a true manufacturer or Model #.
The title on the Half page will be the combination of the Manufacturer and Model boxes.
As far as categories, look for the most general category (Other Home and Family) and throw your junk in there if you can't find anywhere else to put it. The categories were really poorly thought out.
