I use UPS very little, only for large or heavy items. I just found out within the last few weeks that they DO NOT insure antiques and collectibles (Fedex doesn't either). I have been using UPS for the past 4 years doing just that. Luckily I have had no reports of damage or loss during that time. They will insure your package, but if you were to file a claim for damage you would be "s" out of luck. My question is.....who do you use for shipping of larger items of excesive value i.e items over $3,000.00?

i can understand antiques, but colletibles??they dont cost as much as antiques??
jeweler and rare coin dealers always use usps registered mail as it is logged in every step of the way thru the usps network, but items are usually small in size.
you may have to use usps and pack it well, usps is getting tough too on claims.

I was given this same info by UPS & FedEx 2 years ago. They told me the only thing that the insurance would cover is the shipping cost itself. It sounds like some hubs in North America will insure the items [and pay out on claims] and some will not.
Due to that fact, and that they kept leaving expensive trinkets on my customers doorsteps [when a signature was required] I quit using them.
