Hey guys, how will eBay handle all the deadbeats who don't pay up on A4A? A lot of newbies seem to be bidding. No chargeback protection on Billpoint...you could get whacked twice and more...

I would like to know how they are handling AFA deadbeats too. The way I understand it, is the seller is NOT supposed to contact the buyer at all after the auction ends. The seller is just supposed to ship the item when the auction ends. All payments go to Billpoint. Do the buyers get notification that the buyers paid? Are sellers just supposed to ship the items without knowing if the buyer paid?

Did eBay think this out before initiating this plan? If sellers want to donote to the Red Cross then why not just cut them a check and get a receipt?

In all reality, this won't affect the seller too much, as they have no listing or final value fee to get back. In a worse case scenario, they can either relist, not sell, or sell for a profit.

I wouldn't ship anything without proof of payment. Billpoint issues payment notification email on regular sales.

I've had 3 AFU auctions close so far (6 more to go & I'm at BooHoo & Carnaby 100% until this seller-rape is over) and here is what occurs:
1) The listing page ends with a HUGE pay button AT THE VERY TOP for the buyer so'es he can't miss it (ya bey me fat-fanny feeBat knows it's all newbies buying!)
2) You get an email telling you NOT to contact the buyer and NOT to demand more moola (let's heap on some insults, right Meg-lo-maniac, Right?!)
3) No mention about deadbeats!
4) You're susposed to be protected from chargebacks unless fraud is proven??!!
MY BOOHOO auctions ARE AT 99% BIDS NOW!!
LEAVE FEE-BAY! LEAVE GREED-BAY!

As with "regular" auctions, the seller is notified from Billpoint when payment for an AFA auction has been received.
This e-mail confirms that X(mailto:) has recently paid for the item "X", Item #X.
Proceeds from this transaction will be donated to The X Fund. Thank you for your contribution.
Six of my AFA auctions have closed, 4 were paid for within 24 hours of closing.
Now, if I could just have all of my bidders pay so fast...

Why do you care as a seller? You sold the item, you ship. The deadbeat is ebay's problem.

Well......
Ya CAN'T SHIP because ya get the address from BillPoint AFTER they pay BillPoint!
Remember, you're not to contact the bidder!

So now the A4A thing has your skivvies in a bunch because you want to ship prior to payment?
Anything to pick on Big Bad eBay, I guess.

What?
No...just pointing out that one cannot ship to the AFU winner until BillPoint has provided you with the winner's address.
Simple statement about the mechanics of the AFU program. Seems pretty clear-cut.

So what happens if someone does a chargeback? Do they charge the seller for Billpoint system taking a fraudulent payment or buyer just wants something for free?
