I spent mine on essentials, but that should free up money at a later date. Eventually that money will boost the economy. How about every1 else?

Part of it went to pay down the principle on my mortgage($100). Part of it went to my unemployed son($100). Part of it went to pay for my house insurance that was due($350). And my big splurge was a new pair of shoes for my 10 year old daughter($50). And now my tax rebate is history.

Bought a laptop computer off Half.com (rather hesitantly, I must admit, considering the amount of money involved!).

It turned out to be one of the most pleasant transactions I've ever had, with the nicest seller I've ever worked with, and got a great price on the computer to boot!

So now I can be a mobile eBayer!

that money will boost the economy

Half our income goes to WalMart, Food City, and our childcare provider who in turn spend half of her income at WalMart, Food City, etc.........

You know you spend too much time at WalMart when the door greeter has a 1/2 loaded buggy waiting on you on certain days

Bought a digital camera so I could return the one I had been 'borrowing' from my Dad for two months when I started selling on eBay. Aren't Dads the Best!

Split the $600 with the wife. She bought grass seed for the lawn and attended a painting class. She put the remainder in her checking account.

I took the wife out for a nice dinner on her 58th birthday and put the remainder in savings.

I bought a great collection of horse magazines, which allowed me to finish my own personal collection and have a whole big bunch to resell on Ebay (if sales ever pick up again).

Well, I have not filed my 2000 taxes yet, so I did not get one. However, if I had, I would have put it in the bank for my 2001 taxes.

After all, it was an ADVANCE refund for what you will owe on your 2001 taxes. The lowest tax bracket is now 10%, BUT the tax tables for 2001 have not been changed. So the "refund" was the difference between the old tax table and the new one.

You'll just be paying it back with your 2001 tax return, anyway.

Me? I get to use mine as a credit on my 2001 taxes, since I did not file in time. Hence, I will owe less in 2001.

Our PII 400 system is having some serious video card trouble, and due to it's age, we can't find a card that will play with the system. So, we're taking the cd-rom, floppy, and hard drive, and having a new system built. For about $700, we're getting a P4, 1.5 ghz.

The money was going to pay off a bill, but we have to have a stable computer. Our rebate just arrived on Monday of this week, so I'm glad we didn't get it sooner or it would be gone already.

Well it sort of went into savings.. instead of pulling $ out of savings to buy inventory, I used the rebate check instead.. so it SORT of ended up in savings.. 8)

I went to the local animal shelter and adopted a 11 pound poodle mix. His hair was very matted, he smelled real, real bad. Went to the vet, had him bathed, shaved, doctored and neutered. They shaved two pounds of hair off him and fixed his hernia and also cleaned his teeth. The bill spent almost all of my rebate. Rest went for toys and food. His name is Rhett, (for Retribution) He is a pistol, very active and loving. Just what I needed after the horrible events this past month.

We thought it was a stupid idea in the first place.

My husband and I donated the whole thing back to NYC disater relief charities. Now we fell like it is doing some REAL good.

goldenclutter, you couldn't have spent it in a better way. More people need to do what you did. If I didn't already have 2 dogs and 5 cats, that's what I would do. Actually, if DH would let me, I would.

I just sent mine to MEG so she could make the Forbes 400 richest list. She was only 301 on the list this year with a total income of ONLY a meager 850 million.

Poor Meg. That's why I donated all my refund to her. I was even thinking of starting a charity auction to see if she could make the top 100 list. ;-D

Yeah, I agree, poor Meg! She obviously needs all the help that we all can give her..

I think we used the entire $600 to pay bills...How boring!

Our check helped in paying for a new refrigerator. Purchased a ice/drink dispenser unit and we are really enjoying the convenience.

Just got it Friday, and it's still in my car but will be deposited into Savings this afternoon. Then I'll decide what I'm gonna do with it. When it was originally offered, I planned to put it towards my long-range plan (house down-payment fund). However, I unexpectedly have to find new rental housing and it will most likely be going towards a security deposit. If not, perhaps I'll use it to get some advance inventory as I'm also gearing up to sell. As head of household (single mom) I received $500. I simply love not having to share it.
