A $20 item did not arrive as expected. The seller did not immediately respond with the shipping date, and wasn't sure how it was shipped. Eventually, she responded that it had shipped more than a week after I had paid via PayPal (the day after the auction end), and was sent book rate. I emailed that I had paid enough for priority mail + insurance, and she said it was book rate insured. Finally, a month later, she informed me that it had been returned unclaimed. There is someone home at my house almost all the time, and we know our letter carrier. I have never had a package disappear like this before. She informed me that the attempted delivery dates were 9/5 and 9/9....a Sunday! She refuses to ship again without additional payment. I called her and she finally agreed to refund the sale price only. I feel I have definitely been ripped off. Any comments? Oh yeah, when counting the 60 days one has in which to leave feedback, do you count the day the auction ended and the day on which you leave the feedback? I am definitely going to neg her and hope to avoid getting one back, but she will probably neg me now anyway...my first..sob.

vtoc,

The 60 day limit for feedback has LONG since disappeared. Feedback may now be left for as long as the auction is in the database (and some have been in there 100+ days from personal experience).

You can no longer necessarily avoid neg feedback by waiting until the last minute because no-one knows when the actual last minute will be.

You have 90 days to leave feedback. You probably have recourse through PayPal. The person would not know attemped delivery dates unless they had used delivery confirmation. Call 1-800-ASK USPS if you have a question, but I don't think they deliver on Sunday.

I believe the only deliveries that the USPS does on Sundays is Express mail. I've only sent one package via Express mail, and it was indeed delivered on a Sunday - much to my surprise.

Maybe she had the date wrong. 9/10 instead of 9/9?

Not sure if this will help or not but I have had packages delivered twice to me on a Sunday by USPS. One was during the Christmas season and was sent priority mail. Another was sent regular mail and was in the month of August (last year). I understood the Christmas time one, I know they run extra days for holidays, but the August one really threw me. Also, I have had packages returned to me as unclaimed. All of them have had a little stamp on the front with the dates written that they were attempted to be delivered, so I was able to give these dates to my buyers. I also once had a package returned to my seller as unclaimed, which I am almost always home too and we have no idea why it wasn't delivered to me and why I didn't at least get that little slip from the postal carrier stating they were attempting delivery. I think sometimes it just happens.....
Hope this helps a little

Ask her to take a photo of the entire package & email it to you. Tell her you want to see the address it was mailed to so you can tell if the address was correct.
You should be able to see the "unclaimed" stamp.
She has been untruthful with you from the start, so my guess is she will come up with a reasom not to do this.
Was this something you got a good price on & could it be sellers remorse and it never was mailed?

Yeah, ask me to take a picture of the package after I have given you a refund and expect to not get a neg.

Everybody expects service like you get with J.C. Penny's, but your buying from someone that is probably working out a extra bedroom, maybe even an extra bathroom and the John is their computer chair. Some people, myself included, are way ahead of the game, I have an office, a warehouse and I am set up to crank out the packages and we are efficient. Don't expect that from someone that probably hits every grange sale in their neighbor hood driving a broke down rusted out car with the muffler bailing wired to the bumper, and they are doing this for a hobby to be Johnny on the spot. Mail order can take 6-8 weeks, the Post Office doesn't return a package until 25-30 days have past, so even with the problems you could still get your item faster than a mail order company in about 5 weeks if she sends it again.

Every think that they are telling the truth? I would like you to tell Amazon, J.C. Penny's, Sears, aaaaaaaa take a picture of the box and send it to me so I know your not lying.

Things like this happen, she should take it to the post office and they will round date it and send it again for free. have her write on the box "KNOWN ADDRESS, EXPECTING PACKAGE" If they say they wont send it tell the clerk you want to see the post master, they have to attempt a second delivery.

It all comes down to this is mail order people, if you need to see it, if you need to touch it, if you need it tomorrow, if you have to have it tonight, you better take a trip to the mall. If you can't understand that problems like this happen and you think everybody has been put on this earth to make your life miserable, or rib you off, PLEASE don't buy from some unsuspecting seller on ebay. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE you just might save me a headache not to mention a negative feedback for something I have no more control over than the sun coming up tomorrow.

this is a heads up to sellers, if your tracking information says a note was left for buyer to pick up package at post office, email that info to your buyer.

If the package will not fit into the mailbox, the mailman is not required to leave the package.

They supposedly leave a note in your mailbox telling you that your package is being held at the post office.

I have had one package returned to me and the buyer said she recieved no message that they had attempted delivery. I remailed it for free.

I have had one package that I emailed the info to the buyer, she had received no message and was able to retrieve her package after I gave her the heads up.

I have a third package that this should have happened to, but it has faded into oblivion.
It will probably resurface in a USPS ebay auction.

I had a Parcel Post package delivered to a customer in NY on a Sunday. He received it 10 days after I sent it. I was surprised too!
