Someone asked earlier what I sell. I mostly sell books and odds and ends collectibles. Stuff that was normally selling. My shipping for books is Media Mail, I have a bare minimum handling charge, I have pictures of ALL of my auctions...they just ain't looking at my stuff.

Anyhow, I'm trying out Half.com and I have a few questions.

If you think a book is "good" by your standards do you list it as acceptable? What is good to you (or me) might not be to that picky person who buys your stuff.

How do you list a book that doesn't show up in the search? I have, right now, without going through the 500 books in my upstairs, about 20 books here that don't show up in the search. Will they add those or is there a way to find them in there?

Do people have a way to contact you if they have a question about the book?

If anyone has anything to add, I'd appreciate it. Will be listing there all night.

Thanks
W9Y

Hi W9Y, I have sold some on half.com and I'll be glad to share what I know. First, some people are very picky and I would be very careful in how I list my condition of the book; however, if the book is indeed like new, then by all means list it that way. Read some other feedback and see what people leave for them(some of it is unreasonable)and take it with a grain of salt. They will even balme you if the post office is slow. You have no way to respond to the feedback. Don't let this scare you off. We have all learned to read between the lines. Secondly, Books that don't show up - they will tell you they are working as hard as they can to find all books but cannot list them for your information. There is sometimes a way to list one without ISBN. When you come to the block asking for the ISBN number put in anynumber and it will bring up a place to put the name of the book - then you can input the name and many times there will be others already listed. thirdly, I think there is now a way for someone to contact you about a book(that may be only after they have bought it, I'm not sure). Half does not like for your to communicate with the buyer any more than is necessary. They ask that we not put a note when we mail the book. I'm sorry this is so long, but I wanted to answer you as throughly as possible. You can make some good money on half. I do like it. Cannot sell rare books on this venue. Good Luck. Margie

I sell trading cards there, and except for the feedback and lack of communication, I like it.

Buyers can ask questions of sellers via Half.com - much like Yahoo does for their auctions if you're familiar with that.

You get a fixed reimbursement for shipping - you don't set your own S/H on books anyway.

If they aren't in half.com's database, try Amazon marketplace - anything I couldn't put on Half, I put there.

I always try and rate my books conservatively: Underpromise and Overdeliver. This works in every venue.

Another question...

When the system gives you a suggested price, do you keep what it gives you or do you change it? If you change it do you change it higher or lower?

Thanks for the answers so far
