I've got a rude deadbeat winner and he has refused to pay me. I want to leave negative feedback on him but I don't want one back. Is there a exact time (eg. 3 months) that I can leave the feedback and by the time ebay sends him a copy, that it will be too late for him to retaliate with one? If not any other ideas?

I'd like to leave negative feedback and get a glowing positive feedback in return.
If you're going to dream, dream big.

LOL
All of my negatives have been in retaliation! It is all a part of their game.

Just file a Non Paying Bidder Alert followed by a final value fee refund request with eBay. You'll get the commission fees paid to eBay returned to you and the bidder will have a strike against him for the non-completed auction. If he gets 3, he'll be suspended from the eBay website.
Don't worry, idiots like your deadbeat bidder eventually end up hanging themselves.

ok dumb question, but if you block a non paying bidder, can he/she still leave neg feedback?

Yes, they can. One has nothing to do with the other.

Givem one and get one. A few battle scars will help keep would be deadbeats way, sometimes, not always. There are always those who don't care if they get suspended. They just open another account. I'm dealing with one of those right now and she didn't even have enough sence to keep her real name out of her new user id.

If it's a deadbeat, just post one factually: EOA XXXXX NPB XXXXX FVF CREDIT XXXXX The xx's are the date. No matter what he does, there's nothing that makes 'em look worse than an unvarnished deadbeat record. Use the same exact expression in case he does try and respond or negs you. Doesn't matter about their attitude; just keep yours firmly in check and let'em hang on their own record.

I find this all very interesting as I am now dealing with this problem for the first time in 5 years. I am relieved to know that I am not the only one who has encountered this nuisance. I just got undeserved nasty feedback and it really shook me up! However, I have decided to adopt the attitude that "I know how hard I work and how capable I am and I am not going to let some loser bring me down!" AMEN!

Remember that FIRST & FOREMOST, you must protect a PERFECT FB rating!
So what if a deadbeat buyer has taken advantage of you...let someone else do the dirty work after they have been shafted too! Who cares if a less-than-honorable seller makes extra money from their excessive hidden handling charges...some other buyer can be the brave one to expose them with feedback! Poorly packaged fragile item....who cares so long as YOU don't get a neg! Something arrives dirty when described as "minty"....oh well gotta save MY feedback, so I will let someone else warn people!
FEEDBACK IS EITHER FEEDBACK OR IT ISN'T!
Let the chips fall where they may and if you get hit with a retalitory comment....use the response area to explain PROFESSIONALLY! Others have been warned; you have your explanation; and the system gets a chance to work!
My first (and only) neg in 3+ years was retalitory and didn't feel good, but I couldn't let someone else get burned because I was worried about "protecting" a perfect feedback!

The question is, did you really protect someone else? I don't know about you, but at times I have 100 auctions running, and I don't look at the feedback of my buyers - I don't have time time. I don't even look unless I see a problem, so I suppose it might help me determine when I have a deadbeat bidder, but at that point it does not really matter?
On the other hand, I regularly look at feedback of sellers I buy from - That is someone I am sending money to.
So, does it really even out? - No! Feedback is defintely going to hurt the seller more than the buyer. I have 2 ebay accounts, 1 strictly for buying, and the other strictly for selling. My selling account has a great feedback record, because I will NOT leave negative feedback. I will file all the necessary forms that will eventually get the deadbeat removed, or at least NARU'd. That is more effective than a negative feedback.

It is possible to leave a negative without risking one in return. You have to be willing to do some work, and you have to like sniping
Here are some hints to get you started:
1) you can only leave feedback if the auction is still "active"
2) there are several ways that you can check to see if a particular auction is still "active" in their system
3) there are several ways you can find out exactly when they "deactivate" auctions & how many auctions they deactivate at a time.
Start plotting now! Check to see where eBay is in deactivating auctions & start keeping notes. You'll see their progress & will know when they're "just about ready" to deactivate the auction in question.
"Snipe" the negative at a time when you know that lot is "just" ready to disappear from the system... The other person won't be able to retaliate, as the auction will no longer be in the system by the time they see your comment
EASY! (I know, it's a lot of work, but for some it will probably seem worth it!)
