Hello,
I would like to start adding graphics and animations to my auctions to spruce them up. Nothing major that will take eons to load. I dont want to chase my potential bidders away with have those awful auctions that take too long to load ~ you know that ind I'm talking about
So how do I do this. I found some great graphics on the web at various free sites. But how do I get them to show up in my auctions?
Thanks!

Hi Luv, reconsider and think twice. Don't know any graphics or fancy stuff on auctions that don't start the old computer to churn and whirl while I sit and wait. Those dang clicky noises are bothersome too! And then become so frustrated, say---on to another auction!
Stick with good pics, good desciption and consise terms of payment. It works--honest!

Thank you, but that doesn't help me.
I have thought and decided that I do want to include a small graphic or two in my auctions.
Can anybody help?

Yes, I'll try.
Before the URL do this:
<*img src=address will go here*>
Be sure to remove the little stars (*) that I put in. The only space will be after img & before src.
If you need more help email me at:

If you're talking about small animated gifs, you need to upload them onto your web server/picture host. Then you put the address of them on that web server into the form that mcjane told you about. If you are talking about scripts, I believe that ebay's system disables some scripts (depending on what they are) -- I would recommend not using those.

You would have to save the graphics to your hard drive (DO NOT LINK DIRECTLY) and upload them as you would your regular pictures.
Strange that you are determined to do something that buyers across the board hate. The only pictures I want to see in an auction are ones that display what you're selling. Fancy gifs and flashing stuff -- instant backout material.

Thank you, but that doesn't help me.
I didn't mean it to be unpleasant. I simply meant "thank you for your opinion, however it doesn't help me". I don't know how else to say it. It was exactly what I meant, but not in a mean or rude fashion at all.
To all who read it and viewed it as rude, I appologize.
Those of you who know me (I have been posting here for quite a while ~ just not much in the last 1-2 months) you all know that I'm not like that.
Strange that you are determined to do something that buyers across the board hate.
Really? Across the board? The small ones don't bother me a bit. But honestly ~ all you buyers out there ~ how do you feel about them? Just a small one?
All I wanted to do was add a little dancing dollar bill just above my payment prefrances. I thought that might help draw the bidders attention so that they will stop requesting payments I don't offer & getting upset when I decline(this all after bidding & winning the auction).
Thanks again, luv

The "Dancing Dollar" won't help keep buyers from being confused, but it will send prospective buyers to their back buttons. If anything, a confused buyer will just become more confused or hypnotized by the moving graphic.
I don't care what the graphic is, if it moves or makes sounds, I back out. I have a fast computer and a fast connection, but I don't want to see anything spinning, twirling, dancing, flashing, or whizzing by on the screen. Many people feel the exact same way. I refuse to bid on principle.
For what it's worth, there are many people using older systems on slow connections. The more stuff you add to your auctions that isn't necessary, the more you limit your buyer base.
Just my opinion...

This is not help, but just my opinion...I have been on ebay for over 3 years and mostly buy. Personally, graphics have no bearing on whether I bid on the item or not. I will bid because I want the item. Other important factors are seller feedback, payment methods and shipping costs.
A couple images won't bother me, but if it takes more than a couple seconds to load, I'm outta there.
I also hate the scripts that has the text follow your mouse. Music also is a turnoff for me.

Hi Luv,
Since you asked... I prefer NO graphics other than photos of the item for sale. However, the Visa/MC logo ones (and similar payment logos) don't bother me, and a small gif in the photo spot at the bottom is OK, too. So if your dancing dollar was very small (under 25k) and didn't use any script, it wouldn't bother me. (But I don't think it's necessary.)
The extra stuff just gets in the way. And since ebay has added so much "poundage" of their own (which has made browsing ebay like struggling uphill through mud), anything you can do to make your auction load/read quicker would be a plus.

I say, bulk it up. Add as many pictures as you like. This board is notorious for poo-pooing graphics, music, page backgrounds, animations, etc. Please post pictures of your cats, too, and a short bio of each.

prefrances?
You might want to spell it correctly -- preferences.

Dancing dollar bill sounds good. That way, when you are bore from a lack of sales, you can watch the dollars dance away.

Luv- try this link. I agree with some here though that gifs etc. are annoying and hinder sales.
