It has been MONTHS and still no resolution.
I tried to close my account from an error 7 months ago. THEY MADE ME give all sorts of info just to close it.
After I did so I requested it closed and low and behold people keep using it to pay even though I say I do not take it.
Paypal never acknowledges my emails.
They have never closed the account.
I have had this email address since 1993. THAT is the only solution to stop it (by getting a new addy) but then what about my bank account info at Paypal? I have 2 negs looming because the people want a refund. I NEVER HAD their money in the first place!!
They continue to accept payment from my buyers even though I TELL THEM I do not take PAYPAL in my emails. These people don't read we all know that. But it seems Paypal is just as dense.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Zeenza,
I'm not sure how to help you with the folks at paypal, but to prevent continued unwanted payments to a paypal account change your email address with Paypal. Create an email address at yahoo, hotmail or maybe just for fun http://www.beer.com.
Then log into paypal and change your email address to the new one you just created.
Good luck.

All you have to do is get a free e-mail address like a hotmail or any of those and change it at paypal. then do not use that addres for anything and no one can pay you. hope that helps

Because an account at paypal is titled with an email address, people can "send" you payments and then you get a nice email from paypal saying that someone has paid you via paypal. Even if the email is NOT attached to an account!!! (They want you to open one!) Then you have to tell the sender of the funds to pay you a different way, and it SO MUCH fun!

if her ebay id is the same as her paypal addr, then if she creates a new paypal addr but continue to sell on ebay using the old id,then what good is that?
if she sells under new id,what about her feedback??

As a seller I have used PP for a couple years with trmendous success.
BUT the only drawback to PP is that anyone can send $ to your account even if you don't want to deal with that person. I have never had this problem, but it is one I occasionally worry about.
Wish PP would implement a solution.

Had a nightmare myself with Paypal. Resolved it the old-fashioned way and telephoned them. Don't have the number but they are located in Omaha, Nebraska. Talked to a real-live person & problem was resolved in minutes...and had been emailing them for 2 weeks with no help in sight! Hope this helps.

zeenza,
This might be alot of trouble, but it is what I would do. Transfer all the money from your PayPal account into your bank account. Close your bank account and open a new account. Get a new email address and change it on ebay. Deal with the two customers. Send certified letter to PayPal to close your account. Report problem to BBB and TRUSTe. BBB to deal with questionable business practices and TRUSTe to deal with violations concerning PayPal privacy policy.
BBB

Close your bank account and open a new account.
Why?
BBB to deal with questionable business practices and TRUSTe to deal with violations concerning PayPal privacy policy.
Exactly what did you see as a questionable business pratice? If PayPal did not recieve a PROPER notice to close the account. There was none that we know of.
What violation of Privacy Policy?

Get one of those free email accounts from like hotmail or yahoo. Then go to paypal log in and add that email address and verify it. Once you verify it remove your curent email address from the PayPal account. This will stop paypal from accepting your payments for your current email address.
This is what I did and it worked.
Oh, and keep trying to close your account by going to your preferences tab I think or it might be the account tab. Anyway you can find it in the help section, there is a link to close your account. They didn't ask me any questions, just closed it right away. I was sure to change my email address first just incse tho.

According to the statement below from zeenza, an attempt to close her PayPal account occurred.
"I tried to close my account from an error 7 months ago. THEY MADE ME give all sorts of info just to close it.
After I did so I requested it closed and low and behold people keep using it to pay even though I say I do not take it. Paypal never acknowledges my emails. They have never closed the account."
I would assume that proper notice would include the emails that were submitted to PayPal from zeenza along with the additional information that PayPal requested to be submitted.
Questionable business practices -- customers account not closed after recieving notice from customer to do so.
Violation of Privacy Policy -- The following statement can be found on the PayPal site, Privacy Policy under:
E. Accessing and Changing Your Information
"You can also close your account through the PayPal Web site. If you close your PayPal account, we will mark your account in our database as “Closed,” but will keep your account information in our database."

zeenza,
If you need current phone numbers for PayPal, the site below has two listed.

It is my strong suspicion that PayPal never received "proper" notice to close the account. If that is true, the allegations of "Questionable business practices" and Privacy policy violations are FALSE and without any merit.
The bottom line is many facts are missing from the claims and for privacy reasons PayPal will not be able to post any public response.

I took zeenza at her/his word that the request had been made by email and by faxing documents that PayPal had requested.
zeenza,
Do the following. To ensure that "proper" notification to PayPal is received, mail the request to PayPal using certified mail, return receipt. Wait a few days after PayPal has received your request. Check your PayPal account. According to Coonr, account should now be closed and you will not have any more problems. Please keep everyone informed.

Actually there is nothing you can do. Pay Pal will accept money from anybody that sends it. They will hold it for 30 days. So if you get rid of an email address and take it off of Pay Pal entirely then somebody else can register that email address and get your money. So if you ever use and email address with Pay Pal never remove or get rid of it because somebody else could get your money. They used to hold money forever. I have heard of people in the past registering an email with Pay Pal and finding money that was sent several months earlier. The best thing to do is to not have that email address listed anywhere that a potential buyer could find it. I have several email address and i had to list them all at Pay Pal because people will try to send it anywhere except the right one. I have an eamil address called [email protected] on my auctions for questions and people send it to that sometimes. Even though I send them emails at the end of auction saying otherwise. If you want them to use one email address at Pay Pal make sure it is your register ebay email and that it is the only one on the auction or your website. That is the only way to fix them sending to email address you don't want them to. Getting rid of Pay Pal is impossible. People will always try to send it there and Pay Pal will always take there money if you want them to or not.

NO, that can't be done. You can't register an email address unless you are able to receive email sent to that address.

You can't stop Pay(meafee)pal from accepting a payment in your name.
I KNOW
I closed my account many months ago.
and still I get emails from pay(meafee)pal stating that a payment has been received for me.
I simply reply to the email ( which goes to the buyer)explaining that I do not have no longer have a pay(meafee)pal account and that they had better do a cancelation or pay(meafee)pal will KEEP there Money.
I usually tell them a few other things about pay(meafee)pal at the same time.
I usually receive the cancelation notice from pay(meafee)pal pretty quick.
then the buyer emails me and I send them on to C2IT, Bidpay or they mail me a payment.
pay(meafee)pal continues to accept money in my name even though I have emailed them MANY MANY times to stop.
Now I no longer care.

uaru - If you move to a new internet provider you give up that email address and somebody else can get it. I was just talking about people that give up email address's. Like if you used a company email address and you change jobs then somebody at that company might get it. Also a good hacker can figure this out and get your email.
