At first glance I thought this was just a cheap piece of pottery, however, I don't believe that it is. It is very heavy, weighing in at about 14 ounces. The detail work in the painting is nice and crisp. It is about 5 inches tall.
I believe the mark says:
Hand-made in Rhodes-Greece by Ikaros-Pottery 8
I am still doing some research but was wondering if it looked familiar to anyone.

Although Greek pottery such as this piece was indeed well made [hand enameled], for the most part it doesn't do well on eBay. If you do a title & description search on eBay for IKAROS, you'll see what I mean. I've sold some of these Greek pieces in the past, but never on eBay. I "think" your piece is circa 1960's.

Yes to what kia said, and adding that it might be even newer than the 60's. These are wine jugs, and are sold in souvenir shops, just as the same type of items are sold as souvenirs in Italy, Portugal and all along the Mediterranean coast, with just a few differences in colour schemes. Gosh Shosh

It sold last night for $32.50, which isn't bad since I paid $3 for the box lot it was in. I'm happy, happy, happy!
