I sold an item a couple of days ago, and when the buyer contacted me, they suggested that I donate the money to the WTC fund. I explained that I chose to donate my gift directly, and not through eBay. I must say, it was a bit of a surprised. Amount involved was about $40. Anyone else had the same request?

If they want $40 to go to the WTC fund, why don't they just send 'em $40? Sheeessh...

In spite of the fact that eBay will give you a form for the donation for income tax credit, I just explain that when I donate money to a cause, I want my name attached to the donation on their records, not giving the credit to eBay when they don't seem to acknowledge that the donations are actually from the thousands (millions?) of individuals using eBay and not from corporate donations.

I would politely thank them for the suggestion, not really worth it to lay into them about the absurdity of the request!
