Good morning all,
My black ink cartridge was out of ink, so I refilled it and went through all the on-screen steps. It's still indicating that the cartridge is empty and won't print.
I went to Epson's online support, but their steps didn't help. Can anyone out there help me?
I have an email into Epson, but I thought I might get an answer here faster.
Thanks in advance for any help - I need to print today! (Yikes)

Take one sledgehammer and apply blunt force with it until computer and printer cease operation completely.
Actually, if you shutdown the printer and computer and restart, that might just be what you need to clear the problem. If that doesn't work you could uninstall/reinstall your printer software and driver, but I would leave that alone until you have an overwhelming urge to pick up the sledgehammer and start swinging.

Why are you using refills?
Get yourself generic ink cartridges. New generic B/W cartridges are less than $3 each during promotion time or about $4 each regular price from extracartridges.com
No need to refill. You might want to check and see if cartridges available for your printer. If yes, get one for test purpose. I use the ISO9000 line.
Also, they charge a flat $3.95 for shipping no matter how many order at one time. Recommend you calculate need for a period of time and order a quantity at one time to reduce shipping/unit. The cartridges have a shelf life of at least one year.

It's been a while since I had an Epson and they didn't have ink level sensing in their cartridges back then, only a guestimate as to how much it thought was left based on the printing done.
I'm guessing they went the route of HP and have an ink sensor installed. To get into the ink cartridge I use I have to dislodge a very small ball bearing. That serves as the metal contact for one side of the ink sensor and the ink sensing ceases. Some kits replace the plug with another bearing but most don't.

The epson 777 contains a chip that tells the printer when the cartridge is empty. Unfortunately, once the chip thinks it's empty, it stays that way unless you fool it.
This link will tell you how to do it, but you need another full cartridge to pull it off.
Otherwise, you'll have to pick one up. Generics are manufactured for these, you can pick them up for a relatively low price. Contact me if you want more information.
