Had an auction and stated that top interior needed work, showed in picture. Item looked very similar to chest on top part of AW manager screen.

I shipped item UPS on 9/26. Buyer said it didn't arrive until 10/9? The item was very well packaged and stood on spindly legs with a hinged top.

They sent me 4 pictures showing a broken top right where inset hinges were? the legs and everything else are exactly as shipped.

It is possible they tried to remove top to do other repairs and splintered wood? That is the only way I can see this happening. When shipped the top was wrapped and taped shut so it could not accidentally open when pulled from box. Mirror in top is still intact, just area where hinges were is broken.

They paid with paypal and are threatening me with safe harbor. what do I do? I am more afraid of chargeback than safe harbor.

The pictures they sent are very blurry but this is the only new damage I see.

sorry for rambling but I do not know what to do here. they have feedback of 4

Obviously, this was insured for up to at least $100 since it went UPS. I would call UPS and let them handle it.

Tell your buyer to keep all the packaging in case the UPS rep wants to see it.

toollady, do they automatically insure if for $100.00 or do you have to request it when shipping?

The first $100.00 of insurance is included in the shipping price for UPS. You don't have to request it.

I have emailed the buyer to contact the local UPS to apply for insurance. the entire back has been ripped off of the piece without any damage to the top or the mirror on the inside of the top! can anyone suggest any possible way this could happen?

the item fit very snugly into the inner box after wrapping. they have said nothing about damage to the box, just keep saying it was that way when it arrived.
