Has anyone had any experience with selling for other people on eBay? I am interested in starting to do this, but I am not sure what to charge to make it worth the time spent. What would be the best way to get customers?
My parents owned a consignment shop for 16 years and turned it into a good business. I have a pretty good idea about doing it that way, but am wondering if a seller can make enough money on eBay after fees, etc. Does 25% to cover all the expenses and make some money sound fair or too high? Any information would be appreciated. I am running out of stuff to sell from my house and don't want to get a 9-5 job if I don't have to.

I did Consignment ALL Last winter, Its great if your looking to add varity to your auction and incress interest in your sales but its not much for makeing really good money on a small or limited bases.
I charge 35% of the sale Pluss All fees related to selling includeing but not limited to.
Billpoint paypal fees, listing and FVF picture takeing and hosting costs a percentage of stamps.com fees, packing materal costs, Bounced check fees.
As well now if your useing AW or some other online auction managering tool to list and run your sales you have to charge these fees as well.
You must also inform the person you are selling for that all feed back you get for there sales is yours and non tranferable.
some say 35% is to low but I found it was not bad as the added different item incressed sales of my items as well I don't recommend selling any item under $20 or it really wont be worth your time.. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

Let's see how do you spell H E A D A C H E ?
I charge $20 plus 50% of sale price. I refuse anything I estimate won't sell for at least $100. Thought I would discourage the faint hearted but I do about 8 a month. It’s still a pain to have to document the sale so you do not have to end up paying Income Tax on it for them.
We tried it on a few items and decided that life was much simpler by purchasing items and selling them ourselves. Too many hassles in consigning. Of course, like everything else, YOUR results may vary.

MOST owners think their items are worth SO MUCH MORE than they actially are.
Especially now (in a slow down) on Ebay I would not sell consigned items.
HOWEVER you could do a search first, and finding nothing like it COULD make it worth your while.
Good luck.
