Having long resisted Paypal I am now considering accepting it. The overwhelming popularity is difficult to deny. If you use Paypal are you:
Getting Payment in US or Canadian?
Do you keep a balance?
Is it expensive to keep the funds moving into a proper bank account?
How many chargebacks have you had?
Overall happy or unhappy?
If you were unhappy and decided to no longer accept it did you have problems closing the account?

My payments are U.S.
I do keep a small balance
Moving funds to my bank account is not expensive.
Knock on wood I have not had a charheback.
Overall I am happy with Pay PAl. For me it is convenient to have and at least half of my auction buyers have paid by pay Pal. If I am bidding on an auction and they accept Pay Pal I paay 100% by Pay Pal.

Hi,
If a bidder pays by credit card they can refuse the charge and the sellers account is then debted. This can be a huge problem as you have already shipped the goods.

We've resisted getting a PayPal acocunt until last week. We have been using BillPoint almost exclusively.
However, PayPal has changed the way they treat Canadian Accounts. The exchange rate is much better now. The transfer fee to your Canadian account is less than BillPoint's now.
And people really do seem to like PayPal.
Do not leave money in your PayPal account though. To much instability with the company.

I love PayPal. Sold three lots to USA on 14th October. I have been paid, and the lots were shipped on 15th October. This is not my trading name.

hi genxmike,
How long does it take to receive funds in your account after making a "request"?
Even before hearing the news of Paypal's losses, I would never consider leaving funds in the account, thats why I'm bugging you with these annoying questions
Thanks,
Leslie
apparently resistance IS futile.

Wow I hadn't thought of that. I just ordered a debit card. I figured that way I could keep the money separate.
Y'all are scaring me though....hmmm

I like to keep a $25. minimum balance in my account for any impulse sniping I may do. And while I have had no problems, any time my balance gets around $300. I still get nervous and transfer it all to my bank. (electronic transfer-free) It takes 2-3 days.
no complaints, no problems, no chargebacks, no worries, no billpoint.

You still need an bank account in the US correct?
Billpoint charges 1% when it transfers to a Canadian $$ account correct?
Paypal is cheaper than that?

My PayPal linked Credit Card and Bank Account are in UK. Edited to add that I usually use my funds to buy from PayPal sellers!

Greetings from Canada, GreetingsfromUK
Are you getting funds in pounds or US dollars or do you list in pounds?
If you are having US dollars converted are you getting a reasonable exchange rate?

I sell in US$. I am convinced that I get higher bids as I take PayPal. I am happy with the exchange rate I get back to UK£ as I know the costs of a merchant Mastercard or Visa account.
