Has anyone else had a big increase in dead beat bidders in the last few weeks? I usually get about 1 a month, now I have had seven in the last couple of weeks. One bidder didn't reply for a week, in spite of 4 emails, and yesterday I filed a NPB warning, and got this reply.
"Hello, I don't know what is going on. I think my freind used my nsme to buy a bunch of stuff. I'm sorry but i didn't bid on your stuff thank you" (Excuse spelling, hers.) Not sure what she is thanking me for! It looks as if a lot of other people will have the same problem with her bids

How thankful will they be when you file for FVF credit? I haven't had any more deadbeats lately, but many of my bidders are acting a bit stranger than usual.

I'm not having more deadbeats, but I'm about to have one under rather peculiar circumstances. I had someone win an auction with BIN, and pay for it instantly. The only problem is, this person shorted me big time on the payment, so much so that I can't justify shipping the order since it's a low-ticket item. (They paid right away with Billpoint without waiting for the EOA notice.) It would cost me money to ship it rather than just toss it in the garbage, you know? I emailed the person right away and stated that they were short and quoted the additional money needed before I could ship. (BTW, there's no excuse for the buyer not to have gotten the payment right since the shipping charge was clearly stated in the auction.) Well, a few days went by with no word from this buyer, so I sent a second email stating that if they didn't let me know by today (a week after they BIN'd and "paid" what they intended to do about the amount they owed, I would refund the amount they did pay and void the sale. And you can bet I'll be filing for FVF, too and leaving a neg.
Am I supposed to believe this person hasn't checked their email all week or what?

Yes, my number of deadbeat bidders is steadily on the rise. Very disappointing. And of course, they happen to be the items that sold for the most money. Most of my items end at under $10. My last 3 deadbeats were on items ending at around $30, so big sales for me. Ticks me off...

I have found there are more deadbeats than usual. What gets me are the people who use the BIN and then don't pay. What's up with that? I also list on another venue and have found the deadbeat rate to be higher than average. I wonder if the bidders think they are playing a game?

And to top it off, the person who has been ignoring my emails requesting the additional amount due for the auction, has still been bidding on auctions as recently as yesterday, so I know they've been active online. Low feedback, but all positive for quick payment.
Well, they've got today and that's it. I'll be glad to give them their first negative. And if I get my first neg in response, so be it.
You don't pay $2.00 on an auction when the shipping charges alone are $4.00 for Priority Mail and $2.50 for Media Mail.

my current deadbeat used BIN on 9/26. A week later after no response to my EOA, I sent a follow-up letter and I got this response...
Dear Seller,
Let me start by telling you I think your an insensitive bastard for bothering me at a time like this. I have been very busy trying to comfort a neighbor down the street who had a friend who was killed in WTC. I have more important things to worry about at the moment, I shall send payment when the time is appropriate.
five minutes after I was done laughing...I replied with apologies for being "so insensitve", and allowed buyer an additional week to send payment.
I've filed my NBP, and will be giving and expecting a neg. (The buyer has been very active bidding/buying during this timeframe.)
