Can someone please tell me how to tell the real Nikes, New Balance, Timberlane, etc. shoes from the copies.... I keep buying them at yard sales and then, whether for myself or for auction, do not know if they are the genuine brand. Thanks for your help.

Timberlane would definitely be a knock-off of Timberland.
Reminded me of the movie "Serendipity" that I saw a couple of weeks ago. A woman buys a "Prado" change purse type thing on the streets of NY and her friend laughs because it's an even worse knock-off than her Prada one that she got on the streets of NY...
If Timberlane was only a typo please excuse me....
