I have been trying for 2 days to reach the winning bidder on my auction. All my emails have been returned saying user unknown.. I even sent a billpoint & paypal invoice to see if this would reach them. This is for a Halloween costume so I can't afford to wait to much longer for her to get intouch with me. Should I contact the second highest bidder and offer it to them?

Several options depending on how many hoops you want to jump through.
1. Send it using ebay's mail this auction to a friend.
2. Try sending it using a different ISP or web based email.
3. Pull their contact info & call them.
4. Email SafeHarbor & put "invalid contact" in the header. If SH can't get through to them, then they'll be tossed & you can move on to the next buyer. If SH CAN get through to them, then you may have an ISP incompatability (it happens).

Go to the auction page and click the "mail this auction to a friend link. Use the email provided by the winning bidder and see if the eBay mail system is able to deliver the message. If not, pull the buyer's eBay user information and try and phone the buyer.

Thank you guys for your tips on sending e-mail from a different source.
I had a potential buyer e-mail me a few days ago for an auction that was closing in 2 days asking a question about the item. I tried 4 times at different times to e-mail the potential buyer back and the e-mail got returned each time. I didn't think there was much I could do if the person's e-mail wasn't working properly.
I clearly should have come to you guys for help. Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but at least I know for next time this happens. I still feel really bad (even though it's not my fault), that the eBayer probably thinks I totally ignored them. The auction is over so there's no point in e-mailing them back now... Though the item is 1 of the ones that didn't sell last week and I'm going to be relisting it... Hmmm... maybe I should still try to e-mail the person back??

I've tried all different ways to send this person a email and all of them were returned the same."Returned mail user unknown"
I even had a friend try to send one for me,they both have aol. She said she would be able to tell if they at least opened my mail but her's was returned also.
This is a Halloween Costume so I am working on a time limit.
I received the information with her address and phone number. I live in N.Y. and she lives in Texas. The phone bill would probally cost me as much as the profit I made on the costume.
I guess I just put it away and relist next year,it's getting really late to relist it now.
I tried to file a nonpaying bidder alert to see if that would get threw but I have to wait longer to send that.
Again thank's for the help.
