Where to begin?

Most of you are aware that since Thursday, Oct. 11, I have not been able to sign in on eBay to access my account, leave feedback, or get users' email addresses. I would get a page that said my browser was rejecting cookies. This happened using Netscape 4.77 as well as IE. However, my son in another city could get into my account. Called tech support 3 times without solving problem; d/l-ed Netscape 6.1; posted extensively here. Nothing helped.

Last night, I borrowed a computer, brought it home and hooked it up. Same old "Browser is rejecting cookies"!!!!

The light began to dawn: It isn't my computer or browser after all!

Using my computer and phone line, and my daughter's server long distance, I was able to sign right on into eBay!

Better minds (thanks, kiddos!) considered the problem, and concluded it was one of two possibilties. Either eBay had blocked me via my IP (no reason why they should), or there was a problem through my server.

So, I connected the borrowed computer to a different phone line on same server, and 'browser rejected cookies'.

Called my server. Before I got started good, the lady interrupted and asked "Is it with eBay?" They had had a "number" of people (in this little bitty town) calling them the last few days with this same ongoing problem, and they (my server) had spoken directly with eBay. eBay admitted there was a problem, and told them something about a "spine on the East Coast". (My server says we aren't routed through any spines on the East Coast, and was trying to get more information regarding the problem.)

But guess what? Tried to sign in a little while ago..and it went right through! So apparently the 'spine' problem has been fixed.

Please bear in mind that the first thing I did when the problem started was email eBay, and I got a reply telling me to empty my cache! And they have yet to respond to my second email.

Thanks so much to all of you tried-and-true who worked so very hard to help me, and bouquets to Meya and Anonymous Coward for their above-and-beyond efforts!

Gone to list at last (eBay's little problem only cost me a week's pay...but when you're thinking in terms of $100,000,000.00, what's one little seller?)!
