I also use Auctiva, and I know what you mean - I like some of the templates but wish they could freshen them up a bit.
When I'm shopping on eBay, I often notice the ChannelFusion auctions - I think they look really nice. Have you checked them out?
And I've always liked AuctionWatch templates. They are still some of the nicest looking out there! (I'd still be with AW if they hadn't gone to the FVF-type fee.)
I don't know what you're selling, but may I interject something here?
I do a little "high sellers" research about once a month in various categories of books. I've found that style has little to do with success in this category. Even completeness of description or mediocre pics doesn't seem to have as much effect on the outcome. What does seem to matter are the keywords in the title - and of course the item being sold.
Again, this is only books. There may be categories where presentation is the difference between getting bidders and not getting them.

I also use Auctiva and if you want something fresh and different, then design your own theme. It is not hard to do once you get the hang of it. The first one can be very frustrating, but once you learn the codes and where to put the various things, it is pretty easy. Then you can have a theme that is different from everyone's who is using the same listing software. Right now I'm using stock Auctiva themes because I liked the halloween one but I have done one of my own for Christmas that I will start using soon. The Auctiva themes are really very versatile once you learn how to make the changes.

Ok Gang. I trust all the folks here with their *great* ideas and input.
Actually, I think my need is just a personal one.
I am good at getting bids but wish for colors and backgrounds a little more conservative.
A variance of colors and fonts that refelct me and what I offer.
I requested some from Auctiva about 3 months ago yet none have surfaced to date.
