eBay has e-mailed this to my mother.

Thank you for your reply.

Your case has been reviewed again, and it has been concluded that your
account will remain closed. Although future emails from you will be
read, unless they contain additional information for review, we will be
unable to respond.

I'm sorry that we couldn't be of more help in this matter and I wish you
the best.

What new information do they want? What else can she do to prove that she is not the previously suspended person? She has given them her name, address, telephone number, and the whole works, as well as the suspended user's name, address, and telephone number. The suspended person was id verified, and she has offered to become id verified as well, to show that she is not the same person. She has asked them to call the office phone number to show that it is a business number that is shared by about 10 people.

Yes, they have the same office telephone number, and they may have logged into eBay from the same computer at some point in time, but that doesn't make them the same person. Is there any way to convince eBay of this?

I doubt it. One should never use the same phone number, and computer, as someone who's been naughty.

She must work for an awfully nice company. Many have restrictions on doing personal business (including RUNNING a personal business) on company time & using company computers & phones to do so.

Seems like she needs to go back to using her home phone & home computer. Perhaps then she can better plead her case to ebay.

i doubt if phone and computer are the only variables ebay uses ,they dont have to disclose what else they use.
if they tell us,we will go and figure out how to go around it.
why is your mother running an ebay business using company resources??
if i were her employer i will not be thrilled.

there is no pleading to ebay, ebay said unless she has new info else no one is going to review her case.
i think her mother has learned an expensive lesson.

I own the company. We are a small service business, with three office personnel who book service appointments for seven technicians. There are times when all our administrative work is done, but we still have to have someone there to answer the phone. My policy has always been that as long as the work was done first, I didn't mind what they did afterwards, within reason: read a book, surf the net, watch tv, etc. I guess that will have to change.

ok i did not read the entire thread previous to this one but i have a question...it may have been hased to death before but HUMOR me and repeat the answer...............

why not just sign up again, new ID, same name, different addy and ph. number.......if selling just toss the same CC or a different one, up there and go to it...rebuild...i know for a fact you cc billing phone number and your ebay reg. ph. number can be different.........

if you are the boss and you have three employees including your mother, then it should not be too difficult to figure out what really happens?
sounds like a rather casual work place ,breeding ground for non professional non office like behavior.

Ok, she was trying to be honest and do things the right way, by playing by eBay's rules. If she just gets a new id, what about the billing addy on the cc? Are they going to catch on through that?

ebay will verify her cc address and more.
the only way is to use another person 's id and cc with her home address and phone,if ebay does not know them.
there are a lot of cross checking going on that we dont know of.

the billing addy does not matter. i have my cc listed on 3 different ebay selling accts, 2 of which are not in my name nor are in my same state, one is even in canada.......i don't think you have to worry about the cc info.............sometimes you have to tweak the rules to make the game work in your favor.

Five hours later, with no more communication exchanged with eBay:

Dear XXXX,

We are happy to inform you that your registration has been reinstated.

Regards,
Macy Maze
eBay Inc

No other explanation.

Is it too good to be true?

If it is true - maybe you should take this opportunity to log in and change your contact info. Get a P.O. Box and enter a new telephone number. Change your contact email and get a new alias.

You never know if the one who originally complained and got you into trouble may do it again.

You bet it would if I were the owner. You apparently have an employee who's had enough problems to be suspended from ebay who's giving out YOUR company's phone number and using YOUR ISP.

It's one thing to be letting them surf, read a book or whatever. But to be giving out YOUR Company's number as her contact number isn't the best idea. If something happened, would you want her customers calling your company to complain?

May be she does not mind ebay buyers calling her company ,her mother is one of the three employees who surf and watch tv and read when not working.

As the former owner of a business that allowed the employees many freedoms that they shouldn't have had, and one who treated them like friends let me list a few things here that I didn't discover until it was too late to save the store:

1. The employees who are "pretending" to be your friend, are actually only doing what they have to so they can maintain the upper hand.

2. If you think they wouldn't do something because they are your friend, they are probably doing it.

3. Add video surveillance to your business ... you might be shocked at what you see.

4. If this is a retail store, hire a secret shopper or two.

5. Someone is already using your business computer and business address to sell on eBay. They also did something that is bad enough to have them kicked off of eBay. Over and above the fact that they are spending time you are paying them to work to run another business, have you thought about the legal ramifications to your business if something should go horribly wrong?

I am sorry to sound so bitter but it took a rude slap in the face for me to realize how my employees really saw me ... I was being nice, friendly, helpful ... figuring it would make my business a great place to work.

They saw me as stupid and weak. My generosity was seen not as I intended to but ... well, I'm sure you get the picture.

I joined the business association for my industry. The handbook I got was more than worth the cost of my membership. Sometimes I wish I would have joined earlier ... it was a real eye opener.

Of course, your experience may be different. I am only listing mine. The new business will open with a new me as the boss ... with a well written employee book that has a strict set of guidelines. That each action has a reaction and everyone knows up front what to expect.

Good luck to you.

BECKY

becky,
her mother is one of three employees working for her, there are many pros and cons in having relatives working for you,not to mention they watch tv,read and surf the net on company premise using company pc.
she also lists this thread for her mother when her mother gets suspended by ebay,it is one big family business!!!!!!!
for a brief period i hired my neighbor 16 years old son to work for me,taking pictures and scanning .
i limited it to 60 dollars or 12 hours to see how it works out,to take pictures of a shipment of stone carvings coming from china/
-instead of helping to unpack and rid the packing material,he went to see a movie.
-he is always late coming to work and cant stay long as he has other engagements like having dinner with grandpa.
-he cant wait to finish work so he can chat yahoo with my pc,he updated his yahoo profile as a 20 years old bachelor
-he took a english crested spoon of bride and groom abd gave it to his date
-he told me he wanted to make enough to afford his own apt,buy furniture and go to college.
-he cheated on his timesheet, the only timehe shows up on time is on payday to get his cash
-he wants me to pay for his fancy pager so i can page him anytime
-he wants to sell me a home built computer his buddy is making ,his commish wouldbe like 1000 dollars
-he wants me to sponsor him going to college.
-his mother made so many long distance phone calls ,the phone company is about to cut off the phone line and he wants me to do help pay his pager while whole family will have no phone line
-he told others he know more than i do,takes better pictures and whip a better pc ,if i ask him to work again,it is 10 % of my business.
-i came home one day to find him waiting outside with some college brochures, how about helping him go to college.
- rang my doorbell and need 16 dollars for a state id so he can go to work for JUST FOR FEET,his buddies already taught him he can goof off hiding in back room pretending to stock shoes.
-kroger comes to his school and look for workers,he does not want a job with kroger as walking up there would mean sweating a lot!!
-he wants to watch mtv and stay inside to shoot small obeject at the deak while i need him to go outside and shoot bigger objects,he said it is too hot and there are mosquitos.
ending is i told him not to come back after 60 dollars or 12 hours is up.
but i keep finding him oustide my door .
and this is not a relative, this is my neighbor son.
it is very hard for small business to find good help,if you do not create a professional environment for your workers, dont expect them to behave professionally.
that includes your own mother.

WowWow ....

You learn quicker than I do

Perhaps I should write a book .. then I could make back some of the money that was "liberated" from me.

Important Note For Employers:

NEVER fire an employee for stealing they can sue you .. even if you have proof! Instead, you can fire them for failure to protect company funds

A video store caught 2 employees on tape stealing. They were fired immediately. One of the lawyers didn't file a paper on time so the case was thrown out. The employees then sued the video store owner and WON!
