I feel incredibly stupid.
I had a sale at Half.com for a book over the weekend. I was doing my packaging a bit earlier and went to my 'book' room to find the particular book. Now I don't have thousands of books but I do have about 400 or so. They are all shelved or stacked in single rows so that I can find the title just by looking. By god I have gone through that room 4 times, over each and every book, saying the titles out loud, trying to find the author...anything and I cannot find that thing! I do not list books multiple places in hopes it sells at one or the other. If I listed it I have it. I did not sell it to someone else. But I cannot find it. I'm so frustrated!
What do I do? How do I contact this buyer? Do I send him a refund through the mail explaining, as well as apologizing profusely, that I could not locate the book? I know I'm leaving myself open to a low rating, which I can't really afford because I am new on Half and I need to build a good number. I am going to go through the room again later tonight when I'm not so irritated and see if there is somehow someway I over looked it but...if I cannot locate it does anyone have any suggestions?

happened to me once---just send them a full refund if you have already accepted the sale and letter of apology.

I will do so tomorrow. I want to let my irritation with myself cool off and go through my books one more time before I do so.
At least I am not the only person this has happened to.
As soon as I send them their refund I'll find the book somewhere it shouldn't be courtesy of a child or something. :\

thewholenineyards,
Another suggestion would be to purchase another copy of the book for the customer and send it out. I have had to do this a couple of times. You might otherwise risk a 1 rating by not sending a book after confirming.
With over 2000 sales on Half and a 5.0 rating it's important to me to take care of the customer as if I were the customer.

Just to clarify, you don't actually send them a refund. You go into your account and go to payment pending, click on the time period of the sale in question, then click on the book and there should be a link "report a problem", half.com will take care of the refund by debiting your account and there is a box where you can type an apology to the buyer.
