Good morning all,

Can anyone out there help me with this? I have a book with the following title:

Die Jagd nach der "Lowenpranke" by Robb White

(The opening quote marks on Lowenpranke are at the bottom of the L rather than the top if that's any help id-ing the language.)

Does anyone know what this says? The language?

Can't find it on addall or bookfinder.

Thanks in advance,
Sadie

It's German.

The "Die Jagd nach der" means "For hunt of the". Doesn't make literal sense, but that's the idea.

"Lowenpranke" is probably some kind of proper name that has no translation.

Loosecannon, Thank you!

There's a pic of a ship on the front, and a map decorating the endpapers, so maybe the Lowenpranke is a ship.

I appreciate your help - hopefully I'll find it when I try english searches.

Peace,
Sadie

You are welcome.

Yeah, it probably translates to something like "Hunt for the Lowenpranke".

Hmmm, wonder if it's the German version of "Hunt for the Red October".

Or maybe it's a typo & it's supposed to be "Hunt for the Lowenbrau". Now that I could get into.

Do you know what kind of ship???

Eventer
Hunt for the Lowenbrau".

Lowenbrau is a brand name beer. So this could be a hunt for a beerfest, yum yum.

Probably not the same title in the English version. Robb White writes lots of Sea Stories. Go to abe.com and just do a search for the author...maybe youcan figure out which English title it might be
