I went to look at my auctions listed on Monday. On the "revise" page it had this box checked:
I am specifying Checkout details below (shipping, handling, etc) so that my buyers can pay me immediately after my listing ends.
I am glad I went and checked my auctions! Since I do not want to use Checkout, I am having to manually go thru and check this box on the revise items page:
I am not specifying Checkout details.
I then added the following in the box that says this: Checkout Instructions/Return Policy - This will be included on your listings, in the End of Auction email to the buyer and in Checkout. These are also called the "Checkout Policies" on the page.
Buyer, please do NOT use this Checkout feature. I will be e-mailing you shortly with the payment details. Thanks! ~user name
I don't know if this will work, but I'm trying it.
The following is what I see a Powerseller has put in their auctions.
[i]*****IMPORTANT ~ PLEASE READ***** (Shipping charges are stated below in each and
every auction.) This Seller does not accept the "optional" Checkout feature Ebay displays on Item
Description pages. I wish to maintain a personal one-on-one relationship with all my Customers as
I have during my last few years on Ebay. You will continue to receive your Auction Notice
DIRECTLY from me within 1 - 8 hours of end of Auction on weekdays and within 24 hours on a
weekend. Please disregard this Checkout feature and kindly respond DIRECTLY back to me via
email after receiving your notice from me. Thank-you for your understanding & cooperation. [/i]

When the list my item page came up for me, this box was already checked.
Looks like checkout is an OPT-IN feature.
