Well I figure now is a good time to get in my last stupid question for you all. My apologies if it's a bit redundant!

I would like to know what exactly will happen at the end of my auctions. I have totally skipped the check-out info. when listing my ebay items. Now I would assume that there would be absolutely no end of auction check-out emails, notices, etc involved. But I know better than to make assumptions.

Thank you for your assistance!

Apparently if they close by BIN, it will appear to the buyer that shipping is $0.00.

Checkout will be mentioned in the end of auction notice, and of course your winning bidder can opt to press the checkout button and enter the next screens whether or not you use it.

What we have done is to state very clearly in our auctions that we are not using eBay's checkout system, and that we will send them an e-mail with all the details needed to complete the transaction. And we advise them to read our terms of sale carefully before bidding. And then we proceed just as we always have done.

So far, it has presented no problems. The worst that can happen if a buyer used checkout and you don't is that they will send you an e-mail with their address and stuff, and ask you for to provide details.

The problems I have heard most is that the screens were defaulting to $0.00 instead of just staying blank for shipping and stuff, suggesting that shipping was free. That's why I have cautioned bidders to read our terms before bidding because they will be held to them.

So far, my high bidders that have utlilized the check out feature have been very patient and understanding that I do not use it. And it has entailed an extra email to each of those high bidders to briefly explain that I am not using it. Do not bother them with the whole nine yards, just say I am not using this new eBay feature.

What a rigamarole that eBay has foisted upon sellers that do not choose to use this feature.

But so far, so good.

I dont list anything for checkout info - I Hate it intensly - AT the top of all my closed auctions - the first thing MY customers see is that stupid checkout button - the auction end price and dash marks next to shipping & insurance it also gives a spiel about info being available in the description or from information supplied by the seller. Ebay most definately has its Nazi boots on for this one

I HATE that button!!

Even though I clearly state on my auction page that I do not use Checkout and I sent WBN's within an hour for all my auctions that closed today I still had people using Checkout to ask me how much the shipping would be. Hmmmm ... let's see, it's listed on the auction page & again on the WBN that was sent, perhaps you missed it! ARGH! Why does eBay have to make this so hard?!?!?! Of course I didn't say that and nicely replied that I don't use Billpoint, shipping is $X.XX, total is $XX.XX, thank you for bidding ..... I sure hope that I don't have to send extra e-mails like this all the time.

I do not and will not use Checkout, but I am getting the ebay letters from buyers who like to push buttons. Buttons are so EASY. So I went into the auctions that ended tonight hoping to stop this before it starts. It says 'Update Checkout Info' on the top of each closed listing so I clicked on that and scrolled down to 'Message To Buyer'. I wrote: 'I like the personal touch so an e-mail concerning payment info has been sent to you directly. Your PayPal payment is welcome. I do not use Billpoint.' Interesting to see if ebay sends them this message when they ask for my details...
