Ive had serious delays in receiving payments sent by mail and in shipping parcels via First class - Priority seems to be un- affected It has taken as much as two weeks to receive payments from some of my customers- I check the postmarks. I sell low cost items and ship FC. Im thinking of either taking a rest till the mail stabilizes or taking online payments only and shipping everything Priority with conformation for a while. Anyone else notice mail problems yet ?

I ship first class also, and have had packages take over a month to arrive at their destination. I suspect it has to do with whether they go by plane or truck. It has given me the chance to sell twice to two buyers, I shipped out replacements and when the first package and then the replacement packages arrived they were so happy with their coins that they bought both groups. One customer received the replacements before the original package arrived.

So far I haven't had any delays due to the postal system. Payments have been arriving within 4 days of being mailed.

I have noticed people taking longer to pay.

My packages that have been sent First Class have been taking 3-7 days.
One Priority package to Hawaii last week took 4 days.

Exactly the same thing here. Use mostly First class on items that cost $15.00 and under. I spend more time answering e-mail from people wondering where there item is and if I really shipped it than I do anything else.

Some people are getting out of control and down right rude in these e-mails.

After 20 days if they still complain I ask for their phone number and tell them a lost mail form will be filed with the post office and if they get called or a post card from the postal service just to reply they did not get it. Many show up the same or next day.

The people that are not scaming you will send their phone number. I do file a PS form 1510 also, I am not lying to them.

Jim: When I mail first class - I take the packages to the post office counter- The clerk records all the zipcodes and citys on the receipt - he/she also prints a date and time of mailing all the items. When my customers ask about their package I respond with the date and time of mailing and also the post office location and zip. I also give them my name and phone and ask them to give it a week and after that Ill send a new package. It works wonders. And you can send a copy of the receipt to verify mailing.
Best of luck
Ed

We're having the same problem. It's taking ten days or more before payments arrive from the time they are mailed.

We are having the same issues! We mail several packages first class and all of the complaints we are receiving are from customers that have had their packages sent first class.

What is the 1510? I thought I had the PO covered until I read this thread! LOL! Also, can I ask, what method do you take when you receive their phone number, or??
Thanks! I love this board

I've noticed some erratic delays too. Especially from Canada. But my last package to the UK got there in 3-4 days. Because of the delays, I will not bid on an auction that requires payment within 10 days, unless they take paypal or yahoo paydirect.

CIN131: Thats something I had forgotten - Might be a good time to do a War time TOS to account for the shipping times.

The FAA will not allow the Post Office to put mail on planes that have passengers since September 11th. So most of the mail has to travel by truck. Priority mail gets on the truck first and if the truck gets full the first class packages may have to wait for the next truck. I am amazed that someone would send a replacement after only 20 days, the post office will not pay a claim till after thirty. Overseas mail is not affected as much because the FAA has not authority over foreign carriers.

I have noticed some people taking longer to pay and blaming the post office, but I look at the postmarks and most of them are mailed late.
