Re: Winning bidders not using Auction Watch for "end of auction" follow-up. I have noticed a 50%+ drop-off of using Auction Watch to communicate at end of auction even though I have opted out of check-out.

I've never used the WBN, neither have my customers. Maybe one in twenty fill it out. I just want the money. Why do you need that filled out?

S'pose you mention in your auctions not using Checkout and not responding to the ebay end of auction email either? I do both and it still doesn't do any good. I've opted out of checkout and buyers still do it any-old-whichaway they want.
You can try change them a buck for the service of using checkout, but generally, like the previous poster, I'm just happy to have 'em respond in some reasonable timeframe.

As a buyer, I've gone through many of the third party "Checkout" web forms. Many of them are retarded. The forms are intimidating and you are re-typing information that is already stored online if you use an online payment service. So far, I've found Paypal's Web Accept method to be the quickest way to pay for an auction. By quick I mean that I don't have to jump through multiple screens of forms. I just enter my PP password, select Send Money, and the seller has payment.
