How many of you have taken the time to put together the "about me" page on ebay?
If you have do you think it has helped generate any more business because buyers are more comfortable buying from someone they've met even if it's just over a webpage?
I was thinking of maybe taking the time to put one together. Any suggestions of what needs to be one it?

We took some time and made our "About Me" page real nice. We included an indiviudal product search by brand and also included a frequently asked questions page. I believe it assists our customers in their bidding efforts and gives our company a professional appearance. It just went up last week at teh following URL. Please cut and paste into your browser:

Yes, the About Me page is the only place that eBay will allow you to provide information about your website by way of link.

I took my long parked Domain name and did a URL forward to my "about me" page. From there, if someone goes to my URL, they will automatically get all of my current auctions.

As a wood carver for over twenty years it's the perfect place to show who they are dealing with and a great place for displaying your work!
What can it hurt! It's free...sorta!
Copy and paste this!

When I make changes to the page though I have to use netscape... for some reason IE5 WILL NOT WORK with the about me page!

Computerboy,
I read the terms of Ebay rules at least every other week just to make sure I am not in voilation of anything new they may have added. I was going to add an about me page and link until I read under the rules that the about me page must follow the same guidelines as the auction listing. And the auction listings can't have a link to your website. Needless to say I decided against an about me page. Just thought I would pass that on.

Personally, I wouldn't spend too much time creating an "about me" page. I have had one for almost 2 years, AND I have a hidden counter on it, and it hardly EVER gets a hit, it is a major waste of time, and bandwidth.
<br />
<br />
I keep it up dated for the extremely few who check such, but if I hadn't already created one, I wouldn't waste much time on one.
<br />
<br />
Just FYI
<br />
<br />
If you create one put a counter on it, and see if you don't discover, as I did, that they are useless, even if you could advertise a web site in enormous letters, and hyperlink.

I think an About Me page is a good thing. It lets your buyers get to know you a little bit, and also is a good central hub to your auctions. The search on CPB's page is excellent!
The counter on my About Me page says 5,000. That's maybe in the least year or so, I don't remember. If you really make an effort to drive customers to your About Me page, you will get results. I have free software downloads and photos of eBay's corporate campus. But you really have to invite bidders, otherwise most will ignore your page.
