Don't you just HATE it when you list something and someone emails you an offer that is 30-50% less than you normally get for the item. I been selling an item for between $137.50-$145 over 2 months now and constantly when I list the item I get offers of $70-100 it really pisses me off. The same people offer me all the time I just block there email but more pop up EVERY day.

just venting now........

It's called bargaining. And in many cultures it's not only acceptable, it's the norm. When you get these offers you have several choices:

1) Accept the offer

2) Make a counter-offer.

3) Ignore the offer and let the auction run its course.

After all, just because an item "normally" goes for a certain amount, why should a customer refrain from trying to get a deal? When you go to buy a car, do you blissfully pay the sticker price or do you try to shave some of the profit off?

As the seller, you're in the driver's seat. You can entertain any and all offers (or none at all) at YOUR discretion. Why alienate a potential customer just for doing the logical thing by trying to get a deal? IMO it's much better to respond in a firm but friendly manner to their proposal (whether you accept it or not).

I always answer these emails politely, with a no thank you but please feel free to bid and good luck to you.
It doesn't upset me, just lets me know there is a real interest in the product I am offering.<br />I take this as a compliment.

Don't let it upset you. But auctions are NOT traditional retail sales. It cannot be compared to buying a car, a pack of gum, or anything else.

The price never goes down in an auction (except for retractions).
