I am gonna stop using AW. But I need to host my pictures somewhere. My ISP is AOL and I cannot figure out how to upload lots of images at a time. Plus, they limit the amount space to 2 mb.

I used Yahoo long ago, but can you still use them or do they not allow it. I tried freeservers once but they system blocked access so no pics showed in my listing.

Any suggestions, looking for no cost solutions... tired of AW fee's. Going back to Mr. Lister and keeping track by hand.

you can get more space with aol if you post your profile on aol.
also you get space for each email account,so together there is plenty.
ebay will host one picture free ,can you upload directly from your pc to ebay??
aol now has a problem, there is this infamous RED X sometimes.
i use ebay ipix for some items but it is not good enough,so i use aol,it is cumbersome but it is free and pictures turn up better, you dont have to pay extra to have bigger pictures.
may be some one has better ideas, free pic hosting is pretty passe, how about low cost hosting??
try collector on line ,they may still be free?

Why not create your own website and host your pictures from there? That's what I did before giving ebaY the boot. You'll have complete control over your pics and the added bonus of moving part or all of your business away from ebaY eventually. I can't think of any downside at all to having your own website but there are multiple advantages, including your own picture hosting.

The problem with simply moving to another free hosting service is that sooner or later (my guess is sooner), your new service will start charging too requiring yet another move. Everyone who depends on free web services will eventually have to deal with new charges and/or changes to the service. I'm not saying that it doesn't make sense to use the free services while they're available. What I AM saying is that IMO it makes more sense to take personal control over as many services that you can. And picture hosting is one where you can absolute control with your own website.

A quality web host can be had for as little as $5.00 per month. Just type "web hosting " into any search engine and you'll find plenty. Even if you don't plan to set up a website right away, it's a bargain at $5.00 per month just for the picture hosting.

Of course if you do set up a website, you then have numerous opportunities for profit expending very little extra work. For example, you can send your website's URL along with each item sold on ebaY. The user then goes to your website and possibly makes additional purchases.

Your website can offer a free newsletter on a subject that relates to what you sell. Your site's visitors sign up to receive the newsletter. When your subscriber base reaches 1000 or so, you sell advertising in the newsletter. Last month I netted close to $800 just in newsletter advertising fees.

My biggest suggestion to you would be to get rid of AOL. I just switched from that to "roadrunner" a cable connection and I am in heaven!!! I can't believe how much time I wasted uploading pictures because of aol.

It used to take me almost two hours to upload pictures into auctionwatch; one or two pictures at a time because aol would "time out". It now takes less than 20 minutes for a boat load of pics. I have taken the monotony out of listing auctions and am way more productive!!

I truly danced around the house when what I considered a full days work through aol took me 20 mins.!

Make the move to DSL/Cable!!! Costs me the same(and actually less the 1st year)for cable as a phone line and aol!

Just had to share my euphoria and hopefully giving the kick in the pants I wish someone would have given me 2 years ago!!!

Just register for FREE web space on Yahoo's Geocities - http://geocities.yahoo.com. Send your pics there link to it.

And just as soon as a "busybody, er competitor" catches on, they'll turn you in to Yahoo and they'll block your images. Then you'll have any number of running auctions with little black X's for pictures.

Try www.i1internet.net 100 megs of space for 6.95 per month. Very, Very reliable service. You will need your own domain name which they can get for you for $19.95 per year or you can get a name from www.godaddy.com for $8.95 per year.

I appreciate the advice on pay services but that doesn't help. I can just use AW if I wanted to pay. I am switching to Mr. Lister and looking for a free storage. I don't need a website ( had one) cause we are just selling what's left in the closet and then we are done.

As far as leaving AOL, we just got rid of our Cable modem so no, not yet. We recently bought a house and had to make some decisions on what was necessary and what was not. Since we can get AOL for $13 a month, we are gonna use it til some bills get paid.

Is there a way to FTP batches of images to AOL? Only thing I found was a single image upload system aol provides.

I am on AOL and the only way is 1 photo at a time. If you can upload the photos to AOL in the early morning or day time it is much faster. At least it is free and the photos look good and load fast for viewing.

I also pay $19.95 for AOL. What's up with that?

BOOMSPEED IS TERRIBLE. I use it and hate it. 1/2 the time the pictures do not show up. They are also the biggest liars on the net. A few months ago, it was 100 mg free, then it was reduced, reduced again and reduced again. Now it is 1 mg. Whoppee!

It's discounted through my wife's employer.

Well, I am having second thoughts. I wanted to get my auctions going an hour ago, but couldn't get anywhere online. Thta's the ne thing I like about AW, scheduling an auction to start at a certain time.

So, if some competitor turns you in to yahoo, would they suspend your ID?

I think GeoCities may now have blocking software that will not even let you use the photos outside of the actual web site.

For those of you who are still with aol......when hubby called to cancel with them (2 days ago) they wanted us to stay and wanted to give us 3 monthes free. (We refused, no way will we ever go back to them!)

I think I would give them a call and let them know you want to cancel their service and see what they offer.........

Our AOl was costing us $23.90 a month????? Are you sure your still at $19.95??? I thought that everyone got the bumb up in cost.

If you want to leave AOL and you just want to use AOL for your email address you may have had for years and it is on a lot of your auctions or whatever you can pay AOL $5/month for 3 hours ( use as a backup for your other ISP/cable/DSL/etc ). To read mail just go on the web and use the AOL.com website. Reading/sending mail via the website does not count as part of the 3 hours a month.

BIZHOSTING!!!! I am a BIZHOSTING member and love it!! They have unfortunately cancelled their auction services even though it is still displayed as an option. They refunded my $ when I signed up for it.
The awesome thing about BIZHOSTING is that it is inventory based, unlimited image hosting, free merchant account to accept credit cards, online checkout, and a bunch of other stuff. This is perfect for anyone wanted to start up an online store.
They have a free site package with 12MB of space. It doesnt have the merchant account but if you use Paypal it wouldnt be a problem.

Check it out : www.bizhosting.com

Yes, in their web site building tools they have a file manager. With the file manager you can view the files you have, pics, etc. Just click on a picture and it gives you the url. Often times its set up like this:
http://(your site name).bizhosting.com.images/(file name).

Also you can organize and add folders to be more organized.

=)
