how do i do the link to the picture and why do I have to use JPG and not jpg? any clues?<br />

My guess--an old kitchen fruit/vegetable peeler. Maybe the solid part (below the serrated blade) is to keep the peeling function moving along, rather than slipping upwards. JMHO of course!

Doesn't look like the typical kitchen gadget but could be. Hate to say it but it may be a slaughter house item or sumthin'.
The .JPG or .jpg suffix is case-sensitive on most message boards.

well, that confuses me even more, what would be the use of the pocket part of it? The bottom piece looks like a blade, but not at all sharp. could it be used to pry something open maybe? it is marked stainless made in sweden

It has the looks of an old style can opener.

I've been to this message three times without replying. EAch time, "orange peeler" came to mind. I don't know why, it just looks like an orange peeler, and the teeth on the top could be used to scrape the white part from the rind. The white part is quite tasty and doesn't have the bite of the rind.

Not my name on ebay.

I can tell you exactly what it is. I had one in my younger days as a fisherlady. It is a fish scaler and the hook on the bottom is to cut the fish from back to front so you can take out the guts. I think it is danish, but I can't be sure. I received it as a gift from my parents because I enjoyed ice fishing. Yours is in a lot better shape than mine was but then again mine was used alot.

For the too-lazy-to-look-it-up set

I thought it wasn't a kitchen gadget. The slaughter part of my possible slaughterhouse guess was close.

Good guess gasolineguys but if you go up a few posts and clink the ebay item link and you wil see what the item really is. ( unless those Swedes have been erroneously using a can opener as a fish gutter all these years ).

Speaking of ebay link .. here again is the method of making any link clickable here at the AW message center since the moderators are no longer here to help ( not not help ). Use ....

[ url ]place entire url here[ /url ]

remove both blank spaces from the [ url ] and [ /url ] bracketed areas ( I have to show it that way with the blank spaces so the message center software does change it and make it unreadable.

The same process works with images hosted on the web somewhere. Use [ image ]web address or url here[ /image ] . Again, remove the blank spaces within the brackets.
