I have 2 checking accounts registered with my paypal account.......knowing that I might be making a purchase that I wish to charge to my CC, I just added my CC to my paypal account.......the only problem is that when I go in to make a paypal payment, the 2 checking accounts are the only options showing up.......NOT my CC that I just registered......anyone know why? When I registered my CC, it showed it as being added but it's not showing up on my options when I make a paypal payment. Any help??

PAYPALDAMON - this is your cue to jump in here with the info. I have the same issue and my CC has been registered for 2 years-now I can only draw on available funds or checking account. What's the scoop?????

The problem is probably the seller's settings. If the seller has set "Payments from banks accounts" to yes then you won't be able to make a credit card payment if you have a bank account verified.
You can try paying someone else (without actually going through the send process) and you'll probably find you can select credit card funds.

uaru......I tried going the process as if I was going to make a paypal payment (to my daughter) and this was how I found out that the CC that I just registered is not even a payment choice/option on my paypal account......the only options that are showing up are my 2 bank accounts that have been registered....

Nanaturtles,
Has you daughter set "Payments from Bank Accounts" to "Yes" in her payment accept preferences? That's the only explaination I can come up with. I just tried my account and I was able to select if the funding came from my bank or credit cards with the last seller I purchased from.
The default setting is "No". Could she have changed that?

I was going to suggest emailing PayPal Damon at [email protected] and went to the AW search function to make sure that was his email and found that AW has apparently taken away the search AW message center function.
That was a very useful search option and is another nail in AW's coffin.

I primarily use my paypal account for accepting payments and I'm not sure I understand where you are viewing the above "seller accept preferences" at.....I have reviewed my account......went into my profile.....but find no place to set these preferences......let me know from your paypal home page where you go to view these at....

Log on to your account
click on "Profile"
click on "Types of Payments Accepted"
look at the settings for "Payments from Bank Accounts"
If that setting is "yes" that would explain why someone sending you a payment wouldn't be able to select their credit card when making a payment.

Those are the profile settings for a personal account, the "Types of Payments Accepted" settings is an option only for business/premier accounts.

I must state the obvious, just to be sure. There is a link on the final send money page to change your source of funds. It would be right below where it shows your checking account info.

Here is what I am coming up with on the final "send money" page......my options are:
fund from an existing paypal balance or I can check the box to fund from a bank account (my 2 checking accounts are showing up for this) or I can send an e-check.......but my credit card is still not showing up as a choice to use to send payment......even though when I go into my profile, I can see that my credit card is on file.........any more suggestions?? This is frustrating to say the least!

Here's my last suggestion. Find another seller on eBay where you know their email address. Go through the motions of sending a payment to them, without actually clicking on the "Send Money" button. IF you are allowed to select a credit card with another seller then the problem is the settings of the person you've been trying to send the payment to. I'm 99.9% sure that is the problem.
It's frustrating at this end too, if I was at your computer I could show you in a few key strokes.

I really do appreciate all the time you have taken so far to help me with this problem......the person I am sending money to (my daughter) has a premier account set up so that she can and does receive credit card payments.....I know this for a fact so I don't think that her seller preferences are the problem as she receives credit card payments for ebay purchases all the time......just seems to be a problem with me for some reason......

Also as a footnote to the above posting....I just won another auction and paid this seller thru paypal......I clicked on "funding options" to make her payment for this auction and still, my credit card does not show up as a payment option......

I lied, that wasn't my last suggestion. This is my last suggestion. There's a very high volume seller on eBay that sells CDs for One Cent with an AOL email address
:::hint, hint::
:::wink, wink:::
Go through the motions of sending that seller 1 dollar without hitting the "Send Money" button and see if you get the same results. I'll bet you a nickel your credit card becomes an option.

One other thing (touching all the bases). Are you scrolling down when you see the bank options... the credit card option is below them and isn't on my screen without scrolling to it.

Here is what my page looks like when I click on "Funding Options".......
You can win $1,000 just by paying with a bank account!
PayPal Balance Fund this payment from my existing PayPal balance
Bank Account From (Here is where I can select from the two checking accounts that I have on file.........no other options here.......just these 2 checking accounts....
eCheck (3-4 business days)
That's it........no other options show up......I can place a check by: Existing paypal balance.......or I can choose from either of the 2 of my checking accounts on file........or I can click on eCheck.....and then right below that is my "Continue" button........but still no choices for credit card payment......
Also can you post the email for the 1 cent CD......in my ebay search, I only come up a seller whose payment address is a yahoo address........

Okay, this is becoming a quest. I'm determined to see it through.
Try this. Go through the motions of sending a payment to [email protected] (I just tried myself) don't actually click the "Send Money" but click on the "Funding Options" and see if you can change the funding to one of the credit cards.
If you don't get the credit card as a funding option then I'm all out of ideas.

ok........guess what? no credit card funding option.....still just getting: fund from existing paypal balance, eCheck or from my 2 checking accounts......just like before.........
Gee, it just dawned on me.....Do you charge by the hour?? ~smile~

Do you charge by the hour??
I'd be very expensive, you wouldn't be able to bid on anything if I was to bill you.
Okay... at least we know it isn't the seller's settings (so much for my 99.9% theory.) I'm at a lost as to what it could be.
If you go to your profile and click on 'Credit Cards' they show one as being available?

Under "Profile" when I click on "Back up Funding Source".....it lists my credit card as my back up funding source and says that my credit card will only be charged in the event that my bank declines my bank transfer....

Mine says the same thing, so that shouldn't matter. I was able to get my credit card option, even the one listed on the backup funding.
I'm officially stumped.
[email protected] is you best bet now. Just be sure you give him your account email address and maybe a link to this thread.

Well......I think I have figured it out.....I just went into my paypal account and tried to email my daughter a payment which EXCEEDS the amount that I have in my paypal account.........guess what??.........when I try to pay someone MORE than I have in my existing paypal account.....then and only then, will it give me the option to pay using my credit card! So it appears that as long as I have a paypal existing balance, it will not allow me the credit card option.......

hehehe... Yeah, the balance will be used first, you don't get the option of the credit card if the payment is less than your balance. It has always worked that way.
Glad you solved the problem, I was really wondering. I never considered you were making a payment less than your balance.

I didn't consider that to be "overstating the obvious" I guess because even WITH a pre-existing paypal balance.....When making a paypal balance that does NOT exceed my existing paypal balance, I still get the option to use other funding sources such as my checking/savings account.....so why wouldn't I get the same choice to use my credit card when I have an existing paypal balance? If that is the case......why give ANY other choices at all when their is a pre-existing balance.....that doesn't make sense to me at all......either give all the choices available or with a pre-existing paypal balance don't give any choices at all if the funds are available in your account.....
