That's it-I've had it with deadbeat bidders and their retalitory negs. I do all the work and pay all the fees. I contact within 2 hours of EVERY auction end. I offer 4 different ways to pay. I give all info in contact. My contacts are personal not canned WBN's. I send 3 personal contacts prior to sending a NPB alert through Ebay-I then wait the additional 10 days from that point. If still no payment I send another personal contact giving the bidder one last chance to pay for the item. I always give 15-20 days after the minimum 10 day period that I list in my auctions for the payment to arrive. If a bidder has a family emergency or some other reason for not paying within a reasonable amount of time I am very understanding and will wait for the payment. If it arrives I NEVER give a neutral or a neg. I always give a positive if I have received the payment. However, when a bidder has gone past the 30 day mark-has given me 4 different reasons why the payment has not arrived I call a halt. I contact the bidder to tell them the transaction is now cancelled and I issue the appropriate neg. Naturally, you know what happens. I get a neg in return. Well, I've had enough. It's time for Ebay to block non paying bidders from being able to damage a sellers feedback just because they're pissed. I have emailed Ebay customer service with this request and I think everyone who reads these message boards should do the same. SELLERS UNITE!!!

Capolady......I agree and have written to ebay (with no results).....I think that when a buyer does not follow thru with the transaction and has had a NPB charge filed against them, then their feedback posting priveleges should be suspended.....they don't follow thru they shouldn't be allowed to post feedback.....seems like a simple request but ebay seems to have a hard time implimenting it.

eBay can much better afford to p*ssoff sellers than buyers.

Buyers are an eBay asset, sellers are easily replaced.

i think ebay will say you can respond to his neg in the feedback file and other bidders can read it.
ebay cares more about the buyers than the sellers,it figures sellers are making SO MUCH MONEY they can afford to eat some crows.

When eBay goes to Southby's or Disney or any large customer, eBay does not tell them how many sellers they have. The metrics that eBay expounds upon are the buyers and how much they spend on eBay.

At best, small sellers are competitors for buyers dollars to these large concerns. Small sellers are easy in and easy out of eBay.

capolady,
I think one mistake you are making is you are telling the deadbeats that you are going to leave the neg. I always leave negative feedbacks to deadbeats and almost never get a retalitory negative in return.
Here is how I do it.
The first winners letter is always a personal e-mail, never one of those automated form letters that many powersellers use.
Then if no response in 14 days, they get a second e-mail stating to e-mail me back to let me know when I can expect payment.
If no response in two days, I file a non-paying bidder alert.
The final communication I have with the deadbeats is the non-paying bidder alert.
Then I wait the 10 days, if no payment or response, I file the final value fee refund and leave a neg. I do not e-mail the person to tell them the deal is off. It will just want to make them retailiate against you. If you don't remind them that you exist, they will tend to forget about it and leave you alone. This won't work in every situation, but it will in most.
Good luck to you,
bp

barparts, I agree completely. Making a big production out of the NPB & feedback issue increases your chances for retaliatory negs.
I have a similar process to yours - initial contact after the auction, personal reminder after 10 days, NPB alert after another 10 days, file for FVF and leave a neg after another 10 days. By the time I file the for the FVF, most of my NPBs are already NARU or are shortly afterwards. The ones that are not NARU are almost always "abandoned" - no bidding activity, no retaliatory neg, and more than likely not even looking at their feedback at that point. Emailing the bidder at that point to let them know I'm going to give them a neg is like poking a sleeping lion with a sharp stick.

That said, I do agree with capalady's point that any recipient of a FVF claim should not be permitted to leave feedback on that particular auction. Conversely, there should be a similar feedback block against non-delivering sellers.

BossLady--

Sheesh. You are killing yourself out there. I hope these are bigger-ticket items!

Me, I write twice. Wait another couple of days then just neg 'em. Who has time for all this BS?

I haven't gotten a retaliatory for this yet, that I recall. And if truly was an error/emergency or whatever you can always kiss and make-up in feedback.

Spend hours putting up a listing then hours and hours hunting down a bidder? Not me. I eat the fees; I relist. I don't have the time to keep track of eBays arcane buyer-friendly FVF system either.

But I'm a cowboy and life is short indeed.

There will always be people who don't pay.

If you are upset about the retalitory negatives, then just don't leave them. Follow through and get your money back, but don't leave the negs. It does the buyer no harm to have a negative, but it could harm you...I'll reconsider my position as soon as ebay removes negatives when the seller has filed a NPB and FVF on them.

--There will always be people who don't pay.-- Is Correct!

Do not waist your time and energy on people who will not pay anyway. Concentrate your efforts on listing new, different, and more items for sale and forget about "deadbeat bidders", they will always be there! Spend your time on the "positive" and not the "negative". Ebay has refused to change there feedback policy for a long time now and I don't expect it to change anytime soon.
