Hey, I just saw a username(private) in anothers feedback listing. How is this done and why would ebay provide this?

2 Reasons I can think of:

1) A bidder has won some "Unusual" (kinky)
or explicit merchandise and doesn't want
family members to be able to see what he has won or bid on.

2) Another ebayer threatens to contact people who have left you feedback and tell them what a
bad person you are.

Lately, I have also noticed a few 'Not a registered user' without a username at all.

When you sell something in the mature sectiona and leave feedback, the transaction number can be "private".

Disney uses the "private" feature so you can not see their feedback. I do wonder why.

I had a nice Baptist lady from Mississippi order a bellydancing fitness tape and insist that I not leave any feedback at all.

Different folks, different strokes.

If your interested this is how you do it.
Why you do it would be you own reason!

Well, I just got my first negative and the guy has posted inflammatory lies about me in the feedback and then in his follow-up to my response.

eBay won't get involved and Square Trade would only work with cooperative buyers/sellers. And he's far from cooperative. So I'm not sure what recourse I have except to hide the lies until such time as they scroll off the first page.

Ebay doesnt seem to want to get involved with anything except profits. I personally dont see the point of Squaretrade either.

But any schmoe can fill out a VERO form and they will take their word over a sellers any day of the week. eBay is strange in what it chooses to get involved in.

And quite frankly, if they allow libelous statements to stand after being told they are libelous, they should be held civilly responsible for it.
