nycyn,
It probably depends on how clear about this you are in your auction terms. I have a line in my terms stating that bidders with overall negative are inelligible to bid on my auctions. (occassionaly they still do... but it gives me the right to refuse to sell to them). If you don't have a line like this in your auctions, you may wish to consider including one.

I had a (-1) bidder that I was watching closely. Happily he has been outbid by at least two other bidders with positive feedback. Maybe yours will too.

I've had pretty good luck in general; maybe because I'm relatively communicative? (Last night one bidder and I passed back about 8 mails. We had a good laugh!) Often, although not always, when somebody tells me they are going to mail payment, I just send the thing out because I hate providing storage. I've never been screwed. (A hunch thing I guess.) But I never did business with a (-2)! I hope he just goes away.
I used to add a line about right to cancel and pay within 10 days and whatnot but stopped after a run in with a character. (Also, it's less typing, and most bidders already know they gotta pay-up, etc.) Anyway, she had what seemed like 4 paragraphs of "terms", including "will hold your check for three weeks", which I thought was a bit much. Anyway, now when I look at an auction with 25 added warnings and rules I back off because it comes across as hostile. It makes me feel like, "Jesus, what if my kid has an asthma attack" and I'm a day late?
I'm especially tired of people who won't take paypal or this or that but leave yards of terms.
However I understand the need to add basic terms, I just don't and don't mind it when others do.
