Put down that I would only ship within the US and the high bidder who probably has trouble reading English in small print comes from Taiwan. If I go through with the sale would like to know by what method international sellers get paid outside of online payments which I do not want and what would a package to Taipai that weighs about 1 1/2 pounds cost airmail. This is a new e-Bayer with 0 feedback.

Do not ship. Call the deal off. Risk the possible negative. File for FVF from eBay to get your fees back. Repost the item or offer it to the next in line. Not worth the potential hassle for a feedback 0 buyer from across the seas when you stated that you would only ship in the US.
The only alternative that I can think of is if the buyer has an agent in the US that you can ship to. Some do. Most don't.

You can cancel the sale but if you wish to follow through with it you can request payment by BidPay and the Western Union money order is usually guaranteed to be okay.

You can find the rates here.

If you decide to go through with the sale, please ask for either an international money order drawn on a USA institurion like Citibank (they are world wide), use Western Union, they can wire the money to you in US dollars or use Bidpay.com who takes care of the entire mess and send you a western union USA money order. If you accept an international money order drawn on an instituition other than those based in the US, you can be charged with "charges" if you try to cash it or deposit it in your bank. One time, I had an international money order held for over a month! and I was also charged a very hefty fee.

One more thing, before sending your item out, take it to your local post office, preferably a larger one and ask them how much it will cost to ship and ask them for various rates. You want the shipping method through the post office that is most secure. Don't worry about the costs, the bidder will have to pay for it. I shipped some items to japan, taiwan and various other countries. I thought for sure I would be "taken" One bidder in Russia actually wired me the money through western union. The others used international money orders drawn on US institutions.

Since you stipulated in your auction that you would not ship outside the United States, you can also refuse to sell to this person. What kind of feedback does this person have?

It sure could cost that much by air. You could also ship surface & that would take a month or more, but is much cheaper.

Check it out here.

I just checked myself and I got $18.75 from the website but have not heard back from the winner about how they intend to pay. I have BofA and do not know if they have resolved the problems that they had with Western Union so will have to check that out. I really appreciate all this help from so many people.

Air mail 4-7 day delivery will not be $35.00 for a 1 1/2 pound package. I send them all of the time oversees. If you next day air it, then it will cost that much. You should take the fully packaged parcel to the post office and have it weighed for shipping options. Then go ahead and do the transaction. Just send the reply to read that payment is to be made by international money order only. Do not take paypal or any online payments. Too much potential for chargebacks with them. Once a money order is written, it is final. It cannot be charged back so it is as good as money in the bank. You will need to be more patient with the payment though. In most of my international transactions, payment took between 2 - 3 weeks to arrive. I always give 3 weeks. If I haven't seen it by then, then I e-mail to make sure it was sent. Only twice did payment take more than three weeks to arrive and the buyer in both cases let me know the day that payment was sent. As far as deadbeats go, I have had two from other countries. One from England and one from Canada. I have done roughly 100 international transactions so I cannot complain about my luck. Like someone else stated, don't worry about the shipping cost. The international bidders know that it will cost more to get the item to them. Just give them the shipping options with cost. You will find that most will opt for the 4 - 7 day option.
Good luck in your first international experience,
bp

sigh...

Taiwan is NOT a Communist country, you are thinking or People's Republic of China...

Also, it is the USPS that sets the rates not the country that receives the mail.
