I have come across a lot of auctions where the seller does not want the winning bidder to use ebays checkout.
Has anyone had problems with it?

There are only two major issues:

1. When there's already some form of automatic reponse system in place (for example, Paypal, AuctionWatch, or AuctionWorks Winning Bidder Notification).

That means that the winner will get more than one e-mail at the close of the auction asking for information and payment.

2. When the seller does not know what the shipping amount will be before the close of the auction.

The winning bidder still needs to get incontact with the seller and there still needs to be an e-mail exchange.

Checkout was supposed to make things easier (one click and you're done). But it fails to take into account some of the "real world."

Since I can provide shipping costs in advance, I use Checkout and I like its speed and convenience for those buyers who pay via Billpoint or check/mo.

Of course, you have to go to some trouble to use Paypal. I would think if ebay was really trying to make it convenient for the customers, they would have a checkbox for Paypal and a quicklink to take you there; but I am talking about a world in which they really cared about buyer convenience. (Which is obvious they don't- just another "spin" they put on things.)

Still, even though it could be better, I like Checkout and have found it saves me a great deal of time. I used to send the winner an email with directions. Now half my buyers on BIN sales buy and pay within minutes. On auctions that run to the end, I use the send invoice function with all the payment options.

Works great.

I think it would work for me. I have a fixed shipping price, plus it would save loads of time. Thanks guys!

Since checkout I find I wake up in the morning to emails that they have paid me ... or that they are sending the money already. It also in many instances gives me the information I need to get my work done ... the addresses are right there.
