I am another one that tends to avoid a thread, when I find it getting heated. I am also another one who firmly believes that a poster has a right to post ask a question or volunteer his/her input, as long as it stays within the guidelines of where you are posting.I find if there is deviation someone usualy comes in and says we are getting off track here, and normally that particular thread goes back to its original content.
Recently a thread posted here on whether a poster felt they did not belong here has now started some bickering amongst some of the best people whose input here I consider invaluable. I commend the ones who stand up and say we all have the right to speak up, this is a right giving to us under the first ammendment. But, does yelling fire in a crowded movie theater causing a melee still guarantee you this right. I don't think so.I believe this is just what is happening here. On this same day this poster answered other threads, and was replied to in a normal respectful manner. This alone should have showed this poster, that there is acceptance.
This morning I just read a post where someone admitted that they were aprehensive about asking, what I considered a very good question because they thought they were going to get their head bitten off. I do not think this is what I want this board to become, Do You?

I agree 1000% with your view. Everyone should be permitted to post questions on this board. Understand I said "QUESTIONS" - not rantings, ravings, threats or psycho-babble. The individual you are referring to is one who just enjoys hearing herself rant. Yes, I did respond to her rantings in the hope that she would shut up-alas, it didn't work so I bowed out. Questions and reasonable, well thought-out opinions should always be welcome here.

Let all the reasonable people on this board try this: When the wackos start let's just not respond anymore regardless of how much fun it may be to point out that someone is an idiot. Yes, it is fun!! Maybe if we all stop responding they will go away and shut the HELL up!!!

People on the internet message venues tend to be unforgiving and impolite much of the time. I got my first trusty 300 baud rate modem in 1984 and headed off the the big city of Cyberspace at that time .. BBS .. Bulletin Board Systems. Like a corner bar many chat area do not openly or genuinely welcome newcomers. The UseNet is still extremely popular and the true Wild West of the Internet. No enforcable rules, no moderators ( except for a few rare boards ), insults run rampant, check your sensitivity at the door please.
There, that's my discourse on internent message centers. This aint church ladies.

"Like a corner bar many chat area do not openly or genuinely welcome newcomers.".......

bidsbids........I agree with this statement and that was the reason that I posted in another thread that I didn't want this board to become a "high school" click.....I think most of us are past that age and I have also found that other boards that I have posted on are quite like that......if you are the new kid on the block you are ignored half the time and any efforts you might make to engage in an ongoing thread are just ignored.......kinda like being in a room but being invisible! Not a good feeling! That is why I have always liked this board because I feel "at home" here and think that new posters who venture out to try this message board as a whole get a good reception here. As far as the "other threads" that were posted, I think the responsiblity lies with all of us to keep things in control.....if it looks like it's heading in a wrong direction and this is pointed out and ignored by the poster, then I think it is up to us to ignore the thread and not post replies that antagozine and keep it going.........but I hope that all the "lurkers" that I'm sure are on this board that have not joined in don't feel unwelcome because of this......because as atmosphere goes.....this board really is the best that I have found and I hope it stays that way. Alot of other boards have been taken over (so to speak) by a select few and others can be made to feel as if they are intruding......I don't want to see that happen here ever. So if you have been just an observer.......feel free to join in......you are welcome here and I love to see new faces.....the more the merrier!!!

The poster who claimed to be leaving accomplished exactly what they wanted. Hate and discontent, and others saying "don't leave". Notice how many times they came back to post after claiming "I'm outta here".

Not my name on ebay.

Sorry if I offended anyone in the other thread. The way the whole thing turned out is exactly why I do not post anything here that is going on in my auctions. At least nothing that would get the buyer involved here. Once they come it gets ugly. Very ugly.

It is always best to just ask a generalized question.

With as many problems as have occurred I suggest both the buyer and the seller go away for a bit to cool down and they come back later reincarnated if they want to ... but please cool down first.

Thank God for my new home with my old friends

mrssantaclaus, you didn't offend me. The good thing about message boards is that we can all speak our mind and not everyone will agree with us all the time and sometimes never.

That certain poster also brought her own thread back up to the top several times after it started to drop or did anyone notice?

She made a comment Sit back and watch them all go crazy again.

In my opinion that is exactly what she was doing and she was getting enjoyment from it.

I agree with Valley Girl. It's like little kids telling their parents and friends that they are going to run away. It is for sympathy.
How could when I told me parents that I was going to run away they offered to help me pack?

Hi all, thanks for your responses, I think what is bothering me the most, is when I was new and I mean green, I would post a questions, as simple as it was or as many times it was asked before, I received prompt replies, some even invited me back to give the outcome. This is COMMONALITY, Just this past sunday I tried so hard to post some pictures, could not do it, within minutes, 2 auction watch members came to my aid, and I am still getting great responses to what this item may be. But, at no time did I ever get the feeling of being wary to pose a question because of what the answers may be.un-fortunately this morning I read a thread where a poster felt aprhension, and this should not be. A red Flag goes up in my head when I see a thread start, the original poster sit back, and watch the "fun Begin" . I do not consider this COMMONALITY, I consider this DISCOURSE and MANIPULATION. I stated in my original post that this poster answered other threads, and was replied to in a normal respectful manner. This alone should have showed this poster, that there is/was acceptance. Believe me, this is not intended in any way to any one responding to the threads or what their opinions maybe, it is in response to what the outcome is.

Within 1 day of being new to the board, I was getting responses to questions and comments. I felt like one of the gang.

I learn a great deal about ebay/Papal and related stuff from here even when there are disagreements. It's great everyone is free to disagree. The dust settles down on the next new thread which shows maturity.

I learn from problems some of you have had to slug your way through. I'm glad you shared them here and asked for help.
