I'd like to change my user ID on Ebay to something that would be easily remembered etc etc. and I'm under the impression that the second you change it, all your active as well as closed auctions reflect the new name change. My question is..is the old ID linked to the new one for a certain amount of time? If a buyer gets my package next week and he tries to leave me feedback under my Old ID..will the ebay system link that feedback to my new name? Anyone understand what the heck I'm talking about? : )

OOPS..I forgot to ask if anyone has any ideas for a new User ID with the name KAT in it. I know there are thousands of them already in use but maybe someone here on the boards is more clever then I am? LOL

It's been a couple of years since I changed my ID so my information may be dated:
When I changed my ID, sunglasses appeared next to my new name for 30 days. During those 30 days, a seller search of EITHER my old or new name would bring up all my auctions.

Here is the information copied from eBay.
Please consider this carefully!
Your User ID is a valuable asset to participating on eBay. You may find that your trading partners will come to recognize you by your User ID and to associate certain characteristics with your User ID, much like they might with your Feedback Rating. Changing your User ID could jeopardize those relationships!
When you change your User ID, eBay will give you a pair of "shades" to help you tell other eBay users about your new look. The "shades" icon will appear after your User ID for 30 days. During this time, your old User ID will be "embargoed." No one else will be able to use your old User ID until the 30-day period has expired. All of your current auctions, and any other eBay activity, will be immediately updated to reflect your new User ID.
Choose a User ID that is suitable for a long, successful life on eBay. And choose wisely.

The only reason I can see to change one's ID is that it represents something that is no longer true such as an old email ID. I did this once and that's it.
The only other possible motivation might be because another eBayer's whose ID frequently gets mistaken for yours or vice versa.

Thanks stockticker..thats what I wanted to know. Even if I change my User ID, the buyers who will get paackages from me next week will easily be able to find me. In other words, I dont have to email all of them and tell them of my new ID.
