Oh DANG DANG DANG.

Can someone help me - again ?

If I have an image hosted by AW (not yet in an auction) and I want to post it here for ID purposes, exactly WHAT do I do first, second, third? How do I find the box with the codes in it for my image? I did it once. The instructions from the moderator were:

"Go to the Image Hosting page and click to attach an image, then click to continue at the bottom of the page. That will take you to the page where you can see the images URL>"

Okay, I don't see where to "click to continue" at the bottom of the page. No "continue" button, and the "attach" does not work for these purposes.

DANG. It worked once. I feel soooo stupid.

Hi roadsmith

Click on your image. Then right click on it and then click "properties" and you will see the URL.

[*img]Put the url here[/*img] and leave the * out of it.

Hope that works for you.

Hi Roadsmith...If you haven't figured it out yet, here's what to do...Assuming your "name" on AW is "roadsmith"...type the following EXACTLY after you post your message on AW...

Where I've put the "***" is where you type the name of your image.

I'm pretty ignorant about the finer aspects of computers/html/etc. and need everything spelled out specifically! Hope this works...good luck!

Trying again!

That damned little red square pops up again...I'll try again and use words...Put the letters "img" (without the quotation marks) inside brackets...ie: []. Immediately after that, with no spaces, type http:// and then, again without spaces, type imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/ Next, again without spaces, type the first two letters of your AW name (in your case, if your AW name is "roadshow", you'd type "ro" (again, without the quotation marks). Then, a / and then, your full AW name followed by a / and then, the name of your image.jpg and, after that [/img]

All of that may just confuse you but if you follow it step by step, it should work. Good luck!

In September, when this finally worked for me, someone directed me to a spot in image hosting where I could find a good-sized box that had the codes. I was told to copy and paste the entire box, and it worked.

Kiara and Blueyes: I'm still trying here. Kiara, the clickings on image and right clicking didn't bring me to a "properties" link or button and no URL was showing anywhere.

One question I do have--What is the purpose of putting in the asterisk (*) and then taking it out?

God, I am so frustrated. It seems to work for everyone else--just not me!

I have to give up for the night. You should see me slumped, discouraged, close to weeping, over my computer. I do not want to have to rent a geek for this. I did it once!

For my sanity, I have to quit for the night. Otherwise this will eat me alive. I am easily frustrated--but I am not stupid.. . .

Well, maybe just one more try:

Don't cry.

Is your picture showing on your image page? Is it uploaded to AW?

The reason I put the * in to show you is because if I don't it will make a red box here. You just have to copy the code without the *.

You had a capital L for label by mistake.

The same mark is in Kovel's only with KAISER under it.

Kaiser Porcelain, Staffelstein, Bavaria, Germany (W. Germany)
Porcelain, figurines, Blue underglaze
1970-present (1872-present)

[*img]http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/preview/ro/roadsmith//BirdsPlate1label.jpg[*/img]

Remove the two * and it will work.

Oh my gosh, Kiara, thank you so much! I turned off my computer last night and went to bed very discouraged, woke up discouraged, and now see that you've solved my problem. I didn't realize the URL would be case-sensitive. I'm going to try sending the front of the plate just to show you.

One question: I noticed you have two slashes after "roadsmith." That wasn't in my original directions from you, but I'm assuming that is the correct way to do it?

Oh, yay! Kiara, thank you SO MUCH. Now I'm going to post pictures of one more item I got at an estate sale, hoping someone can help me identify.

Where did you find this Kaiser mark listed? Just curious. And thanks again!

Chococake: Can you tell me which picture it is? Or is it just a red X? Yikes, how COULD this happen? Is it possible for it to be in two places at once?

Yoohoo, moderators!

Weird huh? On my manage image page thumbnail says no preview available with file name of birds plate 1 label.jpg. On the display image page it's just the red x.

Hi roadsmith

I'm glad to see that you got your pics to work. Easy, once you know how. Your plate is pretty.

To answer your question I got the mark from Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks. You may be able to find some of the plates if you do a search on Google. Sometimes things like this came out in a series but I'm not sure about yours.

Thanks, Kiara! Tonight a bird expert friend is going to tell me the official names of the four birds on the bowls. I can tell a robin from other birds but am ignorant about the rest of them. Google wasn't much help on this one. Thanks for your help. Adele
