I bought this old tin toy truck in an antique store in Amsterdam about 20 years ago. Can anyone help me identify it and give me some info? There's a logo on the side (I tried to show this in the photo). The truck is about 3 1/4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches tall. It LOOKS like it might be French and, as best as I can tell, the logo says "France". Thanks for taking the time to let the photos download and thanks, too, for any help.

this looks to be in very good condition for a toy that old. I would say right around the end of world war II. many of these were made from other decanters, coffee tins, etc.

I have quite of few of these old tin toys, I was given these as a child instead of dolls. I am the only son my father never had!

Is it a key wind by any chance? many of them were.

I can't help you with value though, sorry.

I can't help you either, but the truck is just great! I love the colors and the art work. The wheels look a little like doughnut cutters to me. . . . but then, it's lunchtime and I'm hungry!

Thanks for the comments. No, it's not a "wind-up" but "fricton" driven. And, yes, it is in excellent condition with no rust or wear. Still waiting for some info from an expert...but I'm patient. Thanks!

Do'es this toy have wooden axles? Try researching Barclay toys.

The axles are made of tin...the same material as the rest of the toy. Thanks for the info...Any other info from experts?

I can't make out the mark but the way it is put togeather with tabs is like Marx Toys were in the US. I think it is pre WWII they did a lot better litho work then and the soliders in the back have WWI style uniforms. Any other marks or ID on it??

Thanks, gasoline guys...I've looked over this little gem with my magnifying glass and can't find any other marks. On the back (can be seen in the photo) is the number "52"...it's down where a license plate would be. I also noted the French flag on the "rear" bumper. The soldiers do look French to me. I can go to the Library and check out "Marx"...Thanks.
