I think they went a little overboard giving you 2 negatives, but I also think you did too. You should have known they were not going to leave you a positive after you left them a neutral. There is no eBay rule that says you have to leave feedback.

Leaving feedback is not an obligation. No one is entitled to feedback. It is a courtesy, nothing more.
Leaving the neutral was completely optional.
Leaving the neg was poetic justice.

There are times and places where no feedback is warranted. This is definitely one of them.

Have to agree with Tom on this one. I gave up on leaving honest feedback MONTHS ago. Why bother. It takes up time. It's a hassle. Too many people get wet diapers over it. Feedback is so easy to fake anyway, it's practically useless.

I would have left negative and blocked too. I sort of dealt with this recently, a buyer left me neutral, even though they never paid me. They claimed I did not contact them. So, I left negative for them, which got their attention. It went to squaretrade to be removed, but I don't think this buyer (who also was a seller by the way) will EVERY do anythign like that again. I think if a buyer leaves neutral because you did not leave a positive feedback right away, they deserve a negative. This guys is a seller too, he should know a lot better. If anything, it might teach him that leaving a neutral for this sort of thing is not a good idea.

The buyer left a neutral first? AND he left it because you didnt leave ANY feedback? If thats the case I probably would have given him a negative for just being a jerk.

Feedback is an option not an obligation on either the sellers or buyers part. There is no rule on eBay that states a seller or buyer has to leave feedback. There is no rules that say feedback must be left upon payment of an auction or after the buyer receives their merchandise.
If you wanted feedback that bad for this transaction I think the best thing to do, would have been to contact the seller and politely ask for feedback and remind him or her they didn’t leave any for you yet and you would appreciate it if they did.
Since many people consider neutral feedback to be the same as a negative feedback I am sure this seller flipped over your “neutral” statement. Surely this could have been resolved in another manner. I think the seller with 1282 positives, 1162 are from unique users, reacted as many people do to negative or neutral feedback and neg’d you in return possibly without thinking his or her comments out.
Hope this was a lession learned for you...
Health & happiness

I got an unusual request from a buyer this week. He asked me not to leave feedback and sent a reminder with his M.O. Maybe the FB "boycott" is spreading? Anyone else get that request?

if you are the buyer here, you got what you deserved. feedback is an option, you don't have a right to it just because you paid. whoopeeee!

I dont really see the point of buyers wanting positive feedback so badly. They got the item they wanted right? I can see how FB is more important to a seller since it can make a break a successful closed auction in many cases. I have a buyer who keeps emailing me to leave her positive FB (she left me a positive a month ago). It wasnt exactly a smooth transaction (emails going back and forth at EOA) and she took her time sending payment and I just assume leaving no FB as opposed to neutral or negative since I found the entire transaction more time consuming and annoying then not. I'm not one to leave a postive just because I got one fom them.

I'm sure you came here wanting a little support, but I must agree that you were out of line with the neutral.
Not my name on ebay.

I'm not sure who is who in this problem. If Slabholder left the neutral because he did not get the positive feedback for quick pay he wanted..well...sorry to say that is VERY screwed up. Or is slabholder the victim who got the lame neutral? If thats the case I would have neg'd the buyer just for being anal retentive.

I would have negged him for resolving issues with feedback instead of email
I did get one request not to leave feedback ... a young guy bought a movie with a homosexual plot.
I emailed him with my personal email and left it cryptic so he did not need to explain anything to anyone ... at his request.

mrssantaclaus,
Your buyer had a good reason to not want FB.
At Christmas I almost got away with buying my husband a gift off Ebay without his knowing it. I was just patting myself on the back for getting away with it, when a new FB popped up from the transaction; of course, he read it.
